When Wraith uses her infrared eyepiece to "reveal the top two cards of the villain deck", what happens if one of them is a face-up trap?
Are the cards supposed to be (technically) revealed to everyone one at a time, thus exposing the trap and blowing up in the wraith's inquisitive face?
Are they revealed only to the Wraith (as in, they are taken as a group) and never technically "face up on the top of the villain deck"?
Is there another interpretation I'm missing?
subquestion: If the trap does blow as a result of the eyepiece, the Wraith is left with 1 card that has been revealed. does she then get to reveal another and move on to the "one on top, one on bottom" phase, or does she only get the one card to put on either the top or the bottom?
Reguarding the initial question, the face up cards trigger the moment they are on the top of the deck. So, if an Infrared Eyepiece reveals cards, and a faceup card ends up on top, it explodes immedately. Reguarding the secondary question, I'm not sure if the face up card gets to be one of the revealed cards. Given that they explode immediately, they would not have the chance to be the top card revealed, and the card underneath (assuming The Wraith survived the exploding card) would be the second card.
This was answered in the playtester forum, the face up trap does not count as one of the revealed cards. If after you reveal one card and the next is a face up trap, it activates, then you reveal the next card.
So is it the general ruling that revealed cards are, for the moment at least, not in the deck? So if Nightmist targets herself with Enlightenment and picks up a 1 Value card, she can still benefit from targeting herself with Enlightenment as opposed to a teammate? I'd been playing it that the revealed card was still the top card of the deck, so that if she targeted herself, it was one of the cards she drew (and then after drawing it she'd have to put it in the Trash).
Oh, wow! No, a revealed card is revealed from the deck and no longer in the deck. I couldn't find anything official in the rules, but it's pretty normal for card games like this (from my experience).
I always reveal cards beside the played card that caused the effect, to help manage what's going on.
Also, because it's going to end up in the trash, you don't want to screw NM by having her draw it, take damage, then discard it - that'd really decrease Enlightenment's utility!
Here's a potential example (for those with Infernal Relics - apologies to those who haven't seen the cards, yet ): Argent Adept's card Arcane Cadence says "Reveal the top 5 cards of your deck. Put 1 of them in your hand, 1 on the top of your deck, 1 on the bottom of your deck, 1 in your trash, and 1 in play." If the revealed cards were still on the deck, you couldn't put 1 on the top of the deck because the other cards would still be there - how would they interact in that situation? It's simpler and easier to manage if revealed cards aren't still on the deck.
