I was curious about the section of the card that says “If the played card is limited card already in play, discard that card an play the next card.” My question is whether that is intended to be performed exactly once (the literal reading of the card), or if it is intended to be repeated until a non-“limited and in play” card is played?
thanks,
Broccoli
My guess is that it’s intended to be repeated as necessary, as doing it once would mean that you follow the last part about playing the card, causing two limited cards to be in play. As far as I can tell, there is no ruling about what to do if a situation occurs which creates multiple limited cards in play, only that it’s not to be allowed to begin with. This would leave the previous result undefined if it were only to occur once.
Short answer: repeat.
Not to disagree with your overall answer, but in the glossary, for Limited, it says, “If a limited card with the same name as a limited card already in play would come into play, the second card is put into the appropriate trash instead.” So, in fact, it is very specific about what to do if the situation occurs.
Ah, very good then. I withdraw my answer.
The intent is to repeat - to keep attempting to play cards until a valid play occurs. Sorry for any confusion.
