Awesome Game

Just wanted to say that I love Sentinels of the Multiverse. Within the first week I was playing it up to five times a day. Have became quite fond of Ra, Tempest, Absolute Zero and Bunker, not sute which one is quite my favorite since each one has their unique playing style. All the heroes also have a uniqueness to them but just haven’t got my attention yet. And then the villians, the first few times against Baron Blade I was beginning to think of him as a chump but then he got the right cards at the right time and it sure showed me not to under estimate him anymore. Citizen Dawn and Grand Warlord Voss are probably the toughest individuals to go up against, only beating Voss a total of twice and Dawn once. Omnitron too is a force to be reakoned with when him playing two cards each round, inless of course no components or drones have made their way to the trash. Haven’t had a chance to try out the advanced rules yet, mostly can only get enough for a group of three and that provides enough difficulties as is.And teamwork is a necessity after I played a few solo games and found out it does make it easier building strategies using all heroes rather then working solo. Now just have to transfer that into when playing with others. The quotes from the “comics” are also a very nice touch, adding more personality to the characters.

All in all, incredible game and totally pumped to see some expansions. Maybe the hippo costumed guy from Haka’s “Savage Mana” card? Or maybe it will be the lacky of the possible nemesis of Haka? I guess only time will tell, hopefully long before December 2012 so I can have some time to enjoy it.

Edit: Decided to throw in a poll to see some of people’s favorite hero to play as or backstory wise if they can’t think decide.

Welcome to the boards, Ronway. I’ve only just started attempting advanced mode myself, and while some are manageable, Citizen Dawn’s is ridiculously hard. Flavor-wise, she’s definitely my favorite of the villains though.

I’m loving the game too. I got a copy the first day the company had it printed and have been playing it every day since. Ryan, Citizen Dawn is also my favorite flavor of villain, but I really do like them all. It’s always nice to play Baron Blade because he strikes me as so batty. And I’ll tell you, Ronway, when you’re playing on Advanced Mode, Baron Blade has a good chance of winning before he flips because of the win condition and the way he is able to cycle through his deck. At least, that’s what I’ve found.

Thank you WriterRyan. Completely agree that Citizen Dawn is by far the strongest, being the one I have played against the most and only pulling one victory is pretty depressing and very motivating to keep on trying.

Agreed Jodie, considering that everytime I have beaten Baron Blade’s first side after nine turns shows if it was on advanced it would of been doubled that meaning I would of been way past the 15 limit. Also playing Tempest or Absolute Zero using “Electrical Storm” or “Cold Snap”, then “Elemental Redstributor” comes into play and all of a sudden the heroes begin to slowly drop in HP, throw “Backlash Field” on top of that and it makes it even worse. I just got lucky my first two times playing it and those two cards were never drawn. Heck, I didn’t even see “Blade Battalion” until my fourth time playing.

Currently Voss is causing more trouble for me than Citizen Dawn… We’ve been playing with 3 players rather than 4 which completely ups the difficulty level. Even so, it is frustratingly fun and is making me want to defeat him even more!

I also love how easy it is to get involved with the game… like I said, Voss has been kicking our butts so we’ve created a story line involving the environments. He conquered Mars first, then landed on the planet in the jungle (little did he expect dinosaurs, but dealt with them accordingly), slowly making his way toward the city.

Brilliant Game!

Played a game against Voss two days ago using Haka, Legacy, and Visionary. Got him all the way down to nineteen HP before he ended up pulling a victory against us. What got us was “Forced Deployment” being played and their were sixteen minions in the trash. Visionary was able to put half back into the bottom of the deck, but that left her with only two HP so when Villian’s turn came around she was sadly eliminated on the spot. Haka went on the next turn, and Legacy on the following turn. What a sad shame it was, that night we fought all four villians and didn’t achieve one victory.

Yes! The “Forced Deployment” can be brutal if you get it later in the deck.

Citizen Dawn is consistently the hardest for my group as well, though we had an uphill battle with Omnitron the other night. Sedative Flechettes is a huge pain, even if you’re doing well for most of the game.

Forced Deployment is the worst in the late game. I’ve found that your only hope is that the first turn player has something that can blow up ongoing cards so that you get a round to kill some of the minions before they get a chance to hit you.

I’ve only beat Citizen Dawn once on advanced mode, but that was with 6 players (we decided 6 against advanced Dawn would be more fun than two games of 3), and we beat her… barely. At the end of the game only The Wraith was alive (and only because every turn at least one incapacitated player had her play her innate power of reduce the next two damage (which stacks!), and she had fewer than 5 hit points. Awesome.

Moved Ronway’s question over to the official rulings thread.

Move along. Nothing to see here, folks.

I too look forward to seeing how the game grows  since it was kept so open it should be fun to see, and unlike some other card games - I don’t think expansions will feel nearly as FORCED to buy them if you want the full game experience.

In relation to the poll.

I really like Fanatic, She lacks a little bit in the DPS department, but she has a few nice tricks for when things have gone totally wrong to help buy a few turns … and a occasionally needed reset button.

That and she’s a angel, but then I just like angels :stuck_out_tongue:

True, you could probably go forever without buying an expansion pack and it will still be an enjoyable game. I know for sure I will buy every villian that comes out, the nemesis for Citizen Dawn if there will ever by one, and any other hero that has something about them that entices me such as a marksman (totally love playing marksman in RPGs, bow or crossbow work). The environment decks I will have to do some thinking about buying since the four environments already packaged are already different enough to suit my taste.

Since it’s been brought up, our intention with expansions is to not have them come in little booster packs or anything like that. Rather, you’d get another significant chunk of cards - each standard expansion will have 2 heroes, 4 villains, and 2 environments. I say “standard expansions”, as we have some plans in the works as well for some “mega-expansions”, as well as other nifty tricks and such. I assure you, we have plans . . .

Oh so that is how it will work. Well I guess I will be buying every single that that comes out if that is going to be a case. Pity, I was hoping to save some money too.

Just discovered Sentinals at GenCon and really love it. Still trying out the different heroes, but so far I love Fanatic. And yeah, definitely looking forward to the growth of the game with new heroes and villains - and environments!

So for future expansions are you guys looking to add cards to pre-existing decks like give each hero four new cards or give a villain a brand new card or are these the only cards that will be in these decks forever?

Our first expansions will add characters and locations to the game (new heroes, villains and environments). However, adding to or altering current decks is also something we are definitely considering (and have already done to an extent with the Young Legacy promo card, for those of you who bought the game at Gen Con).

Especially because alternate costumes or versions of heroes are such a huge part of comic history. We already have a few depictions of alternate-universe characters in the game and are extremely excited to explore some of those stories.

Alternate costumes never crossed my mind. But it is true a lot of super heroes have a different costume that also may give them a few add on abilities on top of their own. I can definately see Absolute Zero and Bunker getting some new armor. Or even The Wraith getting some sort of suit that increases fighting abilities.

Not to mention that card (I believe one of Visionary’s) that shows half and half of Legacy with his typical white suit and some awesome looking red suit.
