One way of gaining Favor is by "A [H/V] target deals 2 or more damage to multiple non-[H/V] targets in a single turn." Does this apply when a source does multiple instances of 2+ damage -- but those instances are all done to the *same* target? My intuition says no, but I was uncertain enough to want other opinions.

It specifies you must hit multiple targets so no, sadly you can't get around it by hitting the same target multiple times ;).
It's not always sad, as sometimes it's Kaargra not getting that point :-)
