If only some wonderful person could create a SoTM template for MSE, that would be amazing! ;)
MSE?
Magic Set Editor, which I linked earlier in the thread. It's a gorgeous custom card creator for Magic, YuGiOh, and a few other games.
I've played around with it a little, but I don't have the expertise necessary to build SotM templates for it.
Ah! Thanks - sorry. Didn't make the connection to the acronym.
I work with Photoshop quite a bit, newer to Illustrator though. I think I have everything figured out except how to put an icon into the Hero Card.ai templates. If I just paste a picture it does not go "underneath" everything else so just what fits in the circle would show up. How do I do this?
You can make a new layer, put the icon on that layer, then move that level to the bottom of the layer stack.
that doesn't seem to work :/ the picture doesn't show up then. Somehow there needs to be a mask? or something for the icon circle so that the white area will show what's beneath it but only the white area?
If you could email me the file you're talking about (spiffworld@gmail.com) I could take a look. I'm just sort of guessing at solutions here because I can't see what we're talking about.
Yeah, I gave up on it. I couldn't get the image in the template to work, either. I ended up putting the "H" in the text, change the font of the "H" to CrashLanding BB, and drop the circle on top of it. It isn't perfect, but it works.
yeh but everything works except for the damn icon! so frustrating
Spiff I'll send ya the file i'm working on but its the hero card.ai file from this thread.
The H symbol should already be provided if your file is up to date.
For the hero icon you'll need to make a clipping mask. First go into isolation mode by double clicking the icon, add and place your picture beneath the circle in the layers, making sure you line it up how you want it, then select the circle and the picture, right click and select Make Clipping Mask, then just re-add the black outline.
The H icon is provided, but when I tried to use it I could not get it to go to the front. I tried everything I could think of, and it always went behind the templating. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, as I'm not experienced with Illustrator, but I couldn't figure it out. It just became easier to create the H symbol in-line.
I make sure to have a layer above the others that the H symbol occupies, that way it's always above everything. Even if you bring it to the front in one layer, if that layer is beneath another it will still be behind something.
Edited the Environment deck template and added in the actual footer image they use, was able to get a high enough resolution image.
I've also updated the 3 deck types to use the new 3x3 grid and moved the previous versions into Old Files.
But couldn't you then sue the restaurant for false advertising, because they promised you a wet floor and didn't deliver? O_o
I think you posted in the wrong thread.
It was the one where the quote came from, so....
I'm familiar with MSE (as a user, not a designer). Was anyone in this thread able to successfully create an MSE template for SotM to create custom cards? I'd be greatly interested.
Tweaked my templates a bit more and added an optional "Print Border" that you can actiavte from within the card stmbols, to make it easier to print using a place like Printer Studio. Working on a list of tips and techniques for using these templates as well.
