I just did some edit that I'm kinda unsure about, so discussing them here. The concensus in (https://greaterthangames.com/forum/topic/rules-answers-from-christopher-at-pax-4082) seemed to be that, except for effects on the card being destroyed, a destroyed card would immediately go to the trash.
But some cards (e.g. Savage Mana, La Capitan) put destroyed cards underneath themselves. Do they actually move the destroyed card out of the trash after it goes in? Or do they trigger before the card goes into the trash at all? I'm not real happy with either answer...
I would read the "When a card is destroyed it is removed from play and put in the appropriate trash" as having an unwritten "Unless otherwise stated" in there. Because that is how it works.
Bringing this thread back because I just discovered it, and there are a few thoughts I had about the spreadsheet that I don't want to implement without a second opinion.
1) Damage converted to healing (e.g. Null-point calibration): does that go with redirection and prevention in step 12? Also, healing follows the same timing rules (minus the typing rules), right?
2) Step 20 (effects that trigger when damage is dealt to the defender) actually does have a case that would trigger if the defender is destroyed: Prickly Cactus. (this one I did add to the spreadsheet, since it seems fairly unambigous)
3) Step 20 should probably also include effects that trigger when damage is dealt by the attacker. It's slightly redundant, but also slightly less ambiguous.
4) Big can of worms, but it should be mentioned: Infinite redirection. Is there any consensus on how it's handled? We might be able to get away with skipping it, since it's a rule about whether the redirection is allowed, rather than when it's applied, but I feel that the rules for how damage reduction that is tied to redirection (e.g. smoke bombs) works should be included.
Yes, it's prevention, and I've added a note to that effect. Not sure about healing timing, but it seems like "the same" would be at least a good starting assmption, until/unless we find edge cases.
Thematically, it makes sense that it would, but our current model says damage triggers don't happen until after destruction caused by that damage. I'm willing to hear arguments to the contrary, but if PC is in the trash by the time it would trigger, then I don't think it does trigger.
Added.
Fair enough. Added a note to step 12.
The timing isn't problematic, though I did add a new note to step 4 to hopefully clarify why it isn't a problem.
For the amount, I've added a note to step 21, and edited step 6 a bit. Better?
Though, in looking at Dual Crowbars, I do note a new (to me) issue. I'm pretty sure I usnderstand the intent of the card, but it's poorly worded. It really should say "
Whenever Mr. Fixer deals Damage (EXCEPT WITH THIS CARD), he may deal that Damage to 1 other Target as well." As is, I could argue that it triggers off itself, allowing Mr. Fixer to hit as many targets as he felt like, "1 other" at at time!
For itself, yes. But Prickly Cactus triggers when any evironment target is damaged by a non-environment target. So if you shoot the sheriff with PC in play, and the sheriff dies, PC will still trigger.
