So this odd situation came up in our last game, and there are several rules questions along the way.
First of all, it was a four-hero game versus Plague Rat. One of the heroes was Young Legacy.
At this point in the game, Y!Legacy and two other heroes had already been Infected, and Y!Legacy was down to just a few HP. PR is on his Plaguebearer side. On Y!L’s last turn, she played “Heroic Interception.” (A One-Shot, stipulating that all other heroes are immune to damage until the start of Legacy’s next turn.) Then, she is killed by some Environment card.
So. What happens here? Is her Infection card destroyed, thus allowing PR to damage the other heroes? If so, do they take damage, or are they still immune from Heroic Interception? If the card isn’t destroyed, does she still count as an infected hero? Does the Infection card get discarded but not destroyed?
I wondered this too. I’m going out on a limb a bit here, but I will tell you my thoughts.
As far as Heroic Interception is concerned, I’m fairly confident in this one; despite death, other heroes remain immune to damage until the start of YL’s next turn. She still has a turn (she’s not fully out of the game) its just her options are extremely limited after death.
As far as whether infection cards are discarded or destroyed… In my opinion it is either;
They are discarded, but not destroyed.
Neither, the card remains in play, but is no longer “attached” to any hero. This would only be important in a few situations, like the case of global ongoing destruction (End of Days, Fueled Freeze), or if there ever was an environment card that came out which destroyed a villan ongoing card (there arent any now). Also Ra’s Drawn to the Flame card would benifit.
I’m leaning towards 2, actually, with maybe a 60% confidence rate.
