Different Sized Cards in Enhanced Edition

So my amazing friend Greonhal picked up my SotM stuff while at PAX, and on Monday he brought it over and the Great Sleeving began. As that was going on, the two of us noticed something... weird. Something I haven't seen anyone else talk about on the forum.

One of the wrapped set of cards in my Enhanced Edition was smaller than all of the other cards. About half of Ra's cards, all of Tachyon's, and about a third of Tempest's are all about a milimeter smaller than every other card in the set. With sleeves it's not quite as noticible, but it's still rather strange, especially since Greonhal was certain his cards weren't like that.

It's not a huge issue, but if it happened once it may happen again. So... anyone else noticed anything like this?

chwineka, that's weird and wrong. Could you get some comparison pictures for me and e-mail them to me at christopher@sentinelsofthemultiverse.com? Also, send me your address, and I'd be happy to send you some replacement cards of the correct size, if you'd like.

Totally can do! :)

Speaking of which, I've noticed something strange about my Unity cards.  Nothing breaking, just wierd.  They are the same size as the rest of my thick cards (Rook City, Infernal Relics, promos), but the printing on the back appears to be larger, giving smaller black margins.  Doesn't break anything, just seemed weird when I first saw it.

Also, my thick cards appear to be slightly longer and wider than my thin core set cards (not just thicker).  But, I guess that's just due to being better cards.

All my RA, Tempest and Tachyon cards are fine, but all my Chairman cards are a mm smaller.  However, since the whole deck is that way, I'm not really concerned because the decks don;t mix with each other.  I'll have to go through the remaing decks to see if they are uniform.

I'm having the same issue with Ra's cards being different sizes. Everything else was fine though. Love the game so far.

The only issue I've noticed so far (and this may have just been a freak accident that only ended up in my box), is my Argent Adept was cut with more border on the right side than the left. It's not game breaking, just visually awakward. lol

I think what we have here is bad die cutting. All my cards have varying degrees of off center cuts. Nothing is miscut to the point of needing replacement. My enhanced edition environment cards all suffer from the too big syndrome. I noticed when they were are to put into sleeves and filled them to the top. All the other decks had extra sleeve space a the top. I sleeve my cards so this is not a problem.

My question is how his coud happen logistically. I assume the dies are sized before running cards throughout the cutter. So how could the sizes differ? Do they move during the cutting process? Or do they have to recalibrate every so often? Very strange but nothing I'm going to write in for.

I am going to be asking for two replacement cards though. About 1 in a 100 cards stuck together in my set. One pair of omnitron's stuck so well that separating resulted in tears to the front of one and the back of another. I'll send an email with pictures as the back of the card is dearly marked and it is sedative fleschettes which is devastating and not one you what to be able to plan for.

Some of mine stuck together, but there were no signs of damage.  My Argent Adept Character Card had a small bit of border ripped off from the front, but other than that they were fine.  I'm a little bummed, but I can always order another one.

paul you want a 2nd pic? I have a issue with my ra and tempest set with two diffrent sizes in the same deck. tempest has 12 small cards in it rest normal. (including the character card). ra has 15 normal size cards and the rest are small. I'm just about to move so I need to hold off on your shiping me replacement would not be a issue if it was not the same deck.

mine was from the set shipped out last week.

Nah, I've got enough pics of all of the problems at this point. I've already sent out a frustrated email to the printer about it (with over a dozen attached pictures), so we shall see what comes of it. Who knows, we might wind up moving to our 3rd printer in two years :P

I have an issue with a card with a small ink splotch on text, as well as cards in Omnitron's deck that were sticking together causing them to be pretty badly damaged when separated. When I get my camera back I can send pictures.

My cards where kind of sticky but the only card that took any unsticking damage was a single Haka one shot which had some a few spots of color ripped off. I can tell how this happened, the paint is layed on thick, giving some cards texture. That said the cards really visually pop, they are over saturated in a good way.

I just bought the enhanced editon and im having the same problem with the tempest/tachyon/ra card package... only the size difference is 4-5mm, enough to make it VERY noticeable and to make Tempest and Ra basically unusable unless i sleeve them, which i wasnt planning to do.

I contacted customer sevice about it, but havent heard back.

This is my first sentinels purchase and it looks pretty cool apart from the cards being different sizes.

Think you're being a bit over dramatic calling them unusable. I have the same problem and can play them just fine unsleeved. It's not like you need to hide your cards from your team.

Perhaps. But it is still very annoying.  And its a pain to shuffle the differently sized cards.

No response from customer service yet.  How long is the normal turnaround time on emails?

I'd recommend that if you're having trouble shuffling to do it in a different way. The method I use to shuffle my cards is that I take the deck and deal it into 5 - 7 piles and pick them up randomly (if that makes sense). Pretty much it's the way you would have to shuffle the cards if you had put sleeves on them. I make sure that anyone using my cards does this as well since it protects the cards from any excess force that someone may use in riffling and any bend that may occur.

As far as their response time in responding to emails, I think that it may take a while. Just imagine that every single enhanced edition that they sent out has this problem. That means that everyone who received a copy is going to send an email on the issue.

I can only assume this, but they're probably working with the printing company to have those decks reprinted. Once they have some sort of news on this I'm sure they will announce it.

We did! Just this morning!

Right here!

Just to clarify for those of us who didn't get their SotM via Kickstarter, do you want us to send an email with pictures of the misprinted decks and include shipping information?

At this point, we've got plenty of pictures.

Just shoot me an e-mail letting me know what the issue(s) is/are, and include your shipping address.  If you've already done this, then don't worry! You'll be taken care of!
