Digital Sequels?

I know it has been talked about (or at least hinted at), but is there any word on development of the other expansions for Sentinels Digital?  Don't get me wrong, the digital game is great, but after playing the card game for years, it feels a bit underwhelming given that there are so many more villains, environments and heroes that exist.  I still love the card game, but it is nice to play a game in about 15-20 minutes.

I am so excited about that!

Indeed, I have been enjoying the heck out of the desktop version. I really like the idea of mini-expansion packs and varients continuing to be unlockable.

I hate to be "that guy," but I might wait for a bundle or something before buying expansions. Something tells me they won't be cheap =/

I would assume and average of $1.00 per Toon.

But they could easyly get away with Lets say $5.00 for the Mini's

and I would say up to $10 for the Expansions

I'll wait and see how much they're all gonna be - I hadn't actually considered that they'd come at a cost but now I think about it, the physical game expansions all cost so why shouldn't the computer version? Anyway, I'm more waiting for online multiplayer to be added, really.

Meanwhile I'm gonna, at some point, get around to loading up Tabletop Simulator and seeing if I can recreate Sentinels there :D.

I'm so looking forward to this!  Too bad they can't do some kind of season pass bundle.  That would be awesome!

As excited as I am about the expansion, probably the most excting bit of news in that release to me is smartphone support.  I would play the snot out of this on my iPhone.

What I really wish they'd implement is some kind of cross-platform account.  Their blog post implies it won't be happening, but as an owner of the digital game on iOS (my device), Android (daughter's device), and Steam (family PC), I'm not keen on paying for expansions multiple times.

If only it developers could write once and run everywhere (stupid Java promise).  Unfortuantly it's not that easy.  While each platform can share assets (sounds, arts, maybe a cross-platform SDK), the code still needs to be ported and tested, which costs time and money.  I was impressed that they got both iPad and Android out at the same time.  I was more impressed when they released a steam version that worked on PC and Mac (and soon Linux).  That's five different platforms alone that they have to maintain, not counting the different versions (iOS 8.0, 8.01, 8.1), Android (Honeycomb, ICS, Jelly Bean, KitKat, Lollypop...Man I'm hungry), Windows (7,8, 8.1), OS X (Mavericks, Yosemite), and Linux (too many distros to name).  It's not an easy process to develop for.

Then there are some store agreements (*cough* Apple *cough*) that can have specific language in their guidelines that prevent cross-platform purchase sharing or allows purchases on other platforms to transfer.

In the end, I can't imagine the numbers would add up for them to set up a central server that tracks and somehow gives access to every expansion purchased on every platform a person owns.  I think Google and Apple takes 30% off the top.  I'd guess Steam does the same (and offers you all supported platforms, further cutting into Handelabra revenue).  Then they probably have a license fee with >G.  It all adds up.  I can't talk for Handelabra, but I can assume they want to make at least little bit of money :-).

@seesome: It was not implied in the blog post, it was stated clearly, or so we intended.

@BenjaminTodd has explained it well. It would take a lot of work and money to create such a system, with the end result being at best the same amount of revenue. So it would be "nice" but not really feasible from a business perspective.

Funny you should mention this, I was watching the latest twitch stream and they said they are coming out with a season pass!

Brilliant!  I'll be buying everything they put out for this game, so this is perfect for me.  :D

Same here!  I didn't even know Itunes could handle something like a season pass.

@MigrantP: I was the one being unclear, not you.  The blog posts do make it clear that DLC/IAP will be separate for each platform.  It means I'm going to have to think about how much I want to purchase for each of the devices I own; but that's my problem and I totally understand why that's how it is - you do have a business to run after all.

That said, thanks for including the season pass option as that makes the pill a bit easier to swallow.

So the "season pass" is the bundle I mentioned earlier? That might sway me. I can't wait to get details on all of this.

You're in luck because we just posted the details!

Great News!  Thank you!

I'm very excited for this!

And we're excited to bring it to you =)

BTW, there are other games with Season Passes on iTunes. Notably, the episodic series like The Walking Dead, by Telltale Games.
