This came up in a battle vs Akash'Bhuta, but can apply in various other situations. Mountainous Carapace grants -1 damage dealt to AB and will cause her to deal X damage to herself when destroyed. Do we apply the debuff to this damage? I argue that if the card is destroyed then the protection clause can no longer take effect and she would take X damage. Another player is stating that there is a ruling that she would actually take X-1 damage. It seems to me that if the card is destroyed then any benefits granted by the card would no longer be in effect. Granted, we are applying the "damage herself" text so clearly the card still "exists" even though it is destroyed, and if one set of text exists to be applied it all must.
I think I've just about talked myself into agreeing with him, but I'm still interested what the PTB say.
