End of Turn Question

Why would you get to finish the rest of your power? Your turn immeadiately ends.

I don't think you can interrupt powers like that. That doesn't really make sense to me.

You interrupt absolutely everything else if a new trigger comes up, why are powers any different?

“Immediately ends” is a pretty strong indication of interrupting anything else that would happen.

I would say that ending the turn interupts the power. But you can use powers during the end of turn step, so I see no reason that the power wouldn’t finish resolving after the end of turn triggers finish.

As the imperative is "YOUR turn" then I would agree with Matchstickman that Fanatics turn immediately ends at that point. It's pretty explicit, you draw six cards and then immediately end your turn with everything else in progress failing to complete (there are plenty of precedents with damage dealing stopping before completing eg Wrest the Mind).

If it was put into play by whatever means during another heroes turn then the statement wouldn't have any effect as it isn't Fanatics turn, but that would most likely be a moot point anyway without some kind of card combo chicanery going on.

Combo chicanery? With the Prime Wardens? Surely you jest.

I would also think that Prayer of Desperation would prevent any End of Turn triggers from firing.

But does that mean any lingering card effects still go off, even though it is no longer her power phase?

Only if it has an "End of Turn" trigger.

What exactly would make a change of phase interupt a power resolution?

Don't we have a ton of examples of powers resolving outside of the "power phase"?

This seems clear cut to me.

You move immediately to your end of turn phase.  That is all, so if Guise has his End of turn shenanigans they would all trigger, you have to deal yourself any damage for Embolden, Zealous offense would destroy itself or not, then your turn is over, then you continue the process.

Just like if an all target damage hits bee bot, you resolve Bee Bot, then continue where you left off, if you still can.

There is no restriction that powers cannot occur outside of your turn, so you would continue the power.

There is one negative.  Smite the Transgressor or Embolden's bonus power use would expire.  If you were hoping to Resolute and give the power to another player and still use Absolution or Martyr by playing Smite the transgressor then using Resolute or having Embolden on Fanatic, you would lose the extra power when your turn ended.

As a bonus Positive, since your turn has ended Vengence Barons Limit of one power a turn would also have expired, which is kind of cool to pull off.

The end of turn phase is still part of the same turn. So doing things at the end of your turn does not allow you to get around that.

Would the power resolve in the end of turn phase?

I believe the end of turn phase is where End of turn stuff happens.

So you would do that stuff and then your turn would be over.

I don't see why it would still be the end of turn phase once the End of turn stuff resolved.

Yes, because after all your end of turn effects are complete, it will then resolve. It certainly would not resolve on the next turn's start of turn.

Yes, and?

Then is would be the next tunr's start of turn.

I don't see why it would finish in another turn's start of turn.

Then would you still get the power use from Transgressor?  Embolden designates power phase, but Smite just says an extra power this turn.

I don't think we've ever had it really spelled out how phases work, but my thoughts have always been that phases aren't periods of time that begin or end, they are points where things trigger.

Your play phase would just be a point of question:  Play a card or skip.  Same with power and draw.

End phase is just the point where all end of turn effects trigger, the end of turn phase wouldn't have a start of the end of turn phase and an end of the end of turn phase, it is a single point that triggers all end of turn effects.  To me it would have no duration at all.

Cards can add a second trigger to end of turn, just like it can add a second trigger to the play phase or power phase.

The way the rules are for the game there really is no reason any phase should have a duration.  Everything we have seems to point to things occuring in instances, and simultaneous resolution for Start of turn and End of turn effects seems to work that same way.

This is of course just how I've always seen the game, I don't think anything official has ever gone either way.

The way I read it, you would certainly still get the Transgessor power use. End of Turn is still your turn, which is within the time period that Transgessor specifies.

i believe the The Video Game has you use a power immediately after playing Smite the Transgressor. At least that's what I recall doing while Pillars of Hercules was in play and I played Smite in the Trangressor first and then immediately used a power, followed by a second card play. If I am recalling correctly and if this is the correct way to handle it, then it's all based on what power you use first. If you used Resolute with SMite the Trangressor, then you would skip your power phase, so a second power would not be able to be used, as you never had a power phase.

So if The Scholar played Don't Dismiss Anything and he "put into play" first, and it was a Know When to Hold Fast, does that mean Don't Dismiss Anything still resolves for the other heroes but it just happens in his End of Turn Phase (even though it started in his Play Phase)?

Jeez, he really doesn't dismiss anything, does he?
