Epic Advanced Mode Beatdown

Although I've been playing SotM for years, I still consider myself a noob.  Yesterday I decided to try advanced mode for the first time and figured I'd wade in against Baron Blade for nostalgic reasons.  What ensued was an embarassing beatdown of BB that I had to share:

Basically, we fought in the Ruins of Atlantis.  I don't even remember who all the heroes were because it really came down to Visionary and Legacy.  Pillars of Hercules came out and I managed to hold out against all the extra villain plays until Legacy's turn.  I had two Takedowns in hand, plus Next Evolution.  I played Takedown, used Galvanize and Next Evolution to make myself immune to the energy damage that BB would deal me for playing Takedown.  For a full round I got an extra power, play, and draw with no drawback because BB couldn't play cards.  One Takedown left play and I played the other and used the same two powers as I described above.  On Visionary's turn, I used Mental Divergence to put Takedown from the trash back on top of Legacy's deck.  Lather, rinse, repeat.

For four or five turns, I kept Pillars of Hercules in play while I pounded on Baron Blade.  At one point I actually debated stopping the combo because I had absolutely zero risk of losing, but I decided to see it through to the end.

Awesome! :D

How were you getting the Take Down from the top of your deck to your hand, though? If Visionary top-decks it, you still don't have access to it until the end of Legacy's next turn. Unless you had someone like TLT offering consistent card draw, of course, in which case rock on.

Because he had two takedowns he could top-deck one when he plays the other.

Not quite, since the card is only destroyed at the start of Legacy's turn:

Turn 1:

Legacy

Start: Destroy TD

Play: TD

Draw: Not TD

Visionary - Top decks TD

TD in play and on top of the deck.

Turn 2:

Legacy

Start: Destroy TD

Play: Not TD

Draw: TD

Visionary - Top decks TD

TD in hand and top of deck.

Turn 3:

Legacy

Start: N/A

Play: TD

Draw: TD

Visionary does nothing since TD not in trash.

Go to turn 1.

But with Visionary also getting an extra play, power, draw, she can use her base power on Legacy to give him the card as well.

:slightly_smiling_face: That is true and something I completely missed.

We did a similar thing with Scholar-Tempest-Nightmist-Fixer.  Nightmist had enough draw to keep playing Mistbound, and Tempest+Scholar were cycling Reclaim->DDA to put mistbound and grease gun into play every round.  It was vs. Akash'bhuta, and we called the game after 2 rounds because we were doing very little damage but had Akash completely locked down.  The environment had no destruction and not enough damage to overcome our healing.
