Five heroes (The Wraith, Absolute Zero, Visionary, Expatriette, Bunker) against Advanced Omnitron.
First villain card was an Electro-Pulse Explosive. The other Electro-Pulse Explosive came out in the second round.
We made a valiant attempt and it was one of the best uses of the Telekinetic Cocoon that I’ve seen (Visionary had more HP than the rest of the heroes combined), but our heroes went down and went down fast.
Ouch. We played against Omnitron for the first time the other night and I hadn’t looked through the deck at all, so my eyes bulged a bit when he played an EPE. Luckily one of us had a card (I forget which) that could stall it for a round, Ra and Wraith were dealing decent amounts of damage by that point (and we weren’t playing advanced mode either), so we took it down. He also pulled two disintegration beams in a row before we disabled it. Thank goodness for Visionary and her ‘destroy ongoing’ power card.
We got murdered by Grand Warlord Voss… basically it was a long game with lots of ups and downs and then BAM he brings his entire army from the graveyard back into play. We were doing 2 players (each with 2 heroes) and the dude I was playing with said “I’m flipping the table, ^&%# this”. I dont even remember if it was enough minions for us to auto lose, but certainly it was hopeless at that point.
Interesting, Iugaru - we’ve had them come back before and it looked dire, but were able to recover by eliminating enough of them and finding ways to manage the situation. (That’s kinda the only way to deal with Voss, though! )
Did you actually play through it or give up? (I can’t tell from your description - sorry! :-\ )
Nah, it was gonna put us past 10 minions without a doubt. It was just a bad luck game… Absolute Zero never got proper equipment and even though Bunker, Fanatic and Tempest where firing on all cylinders… well… so was Voss, the environment kept giving him free minions and protecting them (Rook City).
Any epic fail stories of how the heroes were overwhelming the villain and decided to take it easy (and not finish the villain off when they can already do it and maybe let the Police Backup or Kraken or something deal the finishing blow), only to have the villain bounce right back and wipe the floor with the heroes?
Omnitron got surprisingly hard last time we fought him. We had four heroes, and we hardly made a scratch on him. And this was on normal mode. I used to consider him to be the easiest. Now, I don’t trust any villain.
Yeah, the cards that come up really make a huge difference, as do the heroes involved. Obviously, the environment will change things up. We went against Advanced Omnitron Tuesday and had very few issues, but then we had a good combination of heroes that allowed us to manage the situation very well, his cards ran cold, and Insala Primalis’s Velociraptors were eating Drones left and right. ;D
(We poured butter on the Drones. At least that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it. )
OH yes! Our group was being cool and tried to get 3 Story Challenges done at once. We wanted to heal for 5+ in one turn (we decided to use the pillars to do that), and win with both the pillars and the Atlantean Font of Power in play. FALSE. We ended up doing the healing with the Pillars out and the Font next in the environment deck thanks to Visionary. We decided to leave the pillars for one more turn… Then Omnitron kicked out behinds as he continued to play more cards. Whoops!
