Episode 195 of the Letters Page: Creative Process: Underworlds

Agree, there’s some “Trenchcoat Brigade” aspects to Soothsayer (I used that term to describe his look during Adam’s stream of that cover, and Adam agreed), but Soothsayer is way too nerdy/academic to really be one since the actual Trenchcoat Brigade types tend to be solidly blue collar, working class sorts.

I think it really is that if you opposite Argent’s personality traits you just accidentally end up square in the “grumpy Brit magic know-it-all academic” trope, at which point you might as well lean into it.

Skipping way ahead, because I can’t wait until next Tuesday for this episode, quite possibly my absolute favorite they ever did. It’s certainly one of the biggest shakeups they’ve ever done; Aeternus didn’t exist at all before this week, as far as we know, and it’s debatably a bigger threat than OblivAeon! I don’t think anything ever changed the setting as much as this cosmological retcon.

Maln, I didn’t realize that they created Darkstryfe and Painstake in this same episode. I thought that was a separate Creative Process.
