The card reads,
Whenever The Scholar would be dealt Damage, reduce that Damage to 0."
So since it doesn't say "immune to damage," does this mean that irreducible damage will still get through normally? Hasn't come up in any of my games yet (thus far, the only time we've used him is against the Ennead, where this card and an out of turn Alchemical Redirection bought us a round of safety), but I want to make sure for future games.
He would take damage that was irreducible. It would have to say prevent any damage to the Scholar for him to ignore irreducible damage with that card.
If damage is "irreducible", than how could expect the worse "reduce" the damage to 0? Irreducible trumps reduction effects.

Also if you have Expect the worst and damage dealt to you is increased you can choose the order and reduce damage to zero then increase it and take damage that way.
And while for most characters you might not want to deliberately take damage, Scholar sometimes has a problem with being at full health and unable to heal.
