Fan idea: Two-Player Hero

So, we have a 4 hero team played by 1 hero, and it works quite well. I just relistened to the Pacific Rim Theme and I thought how cool will it eb to have a hero palyed by two people.

For those of you who never seen/heard of Pacific Rim, shame on you.

Essentially, in a very very rough draft. Each player only has 2 cards each. and they can only play one per turn. But have cool ways to play the other half with toher cards or as a abse power.

Honestly, i took like 5 seconds to think this up and I really really like giant mecha. *prays-that-skyscraper-is-a-giant-mecha-but-know's-it's-probably-a size-changing-hero*

I could get behind something like this too.  Maybe give each player 3 cards so your choices aren't quite so limited.  The combined hero would have to count as H = 2 since they're playing two cards and using two powers each turn, and I'm not sure what exactly would be the upside to the two players being tied to a single deck and having 2 fewer cards between them.

I would give each player a different deck, but make them both part of the same hero. For example, give one player The Dude Who Controls a Projection, a non-target hero who plays cards that produce small projections, support the team and most importantly boost Big Projection, controlled by player #2, who can be whatever you want him to be, really. Incapping BP would incap them both, and they would of course count as two heroes for the purposes of H.

Hmm... I quite like this idea, but I don't see it as something we're going to get from GTG. Too odd.

The best example I can think of in mainstream comics of something like that would be "Sentinel", a book about this kid who rides around in a repurposed one of the mutant-hunting robots from Marvel's X-Men.  But with a bit of tweaking you could do something along the lines of Firestorm, Johnny/Jakeem Thunder or even Kid Eternity with it.

Jan and Jace.  Really, they weren't two individuals.

Who knows, maybe it'll turn out that Captain Cosmic is *both* of the new heroes in Wrath of the Cosmos.  They've made an expansion with only villain-experience in it, so why not one with a single hero-experience?

I shall speculate a little about possible mechanics:

* CAPTAIN COSMOS - Body of an Earthman

31 HP.

Star Light Power:  Captain Cosmic deals up to 3 targets 1 energy damage each.

* CAPTAIN COSMOS:  Soul of the Space Patrol

27 HP.

Star Bright Power:  Until the start of your next turn, whenever Captain Cosmos is dealt damage, he deals one target 2 energy damage and regains 2 HP.

Cards from the deck/decks to come if I think of them later....

Or even something like Gurren Laggan. once again look it up, it's an AWESOMELY AMAZING.

But your examples are perfect!

There's still time! >G If you are listening heed our call!

or you could go with a Firestorm type thing- one person does the active stuff, the other does the support/thinking.

But, it can't be too similar to the Sentinels playstyle either.

Sort of like making Con and Chrono-Ranger working together in game.

I have some thoughts on how to do this, but getting into mechanics for a new hero is not kosher.

Hence why I used Captain Cosmic as my idea.  Speculating about alternate versions of >G characters is explicitly okay.

But that is for alternate character cards, not brand-new decks.  We are not allowed to post about new decks and mechanics.

Legitimate hypotheses about themes and concepts are fine. Just don't go posting what you think the deck contents are - at that point, you've just made a home-brew character, which isn't allowed on the >G forums (yet).

Captain Cosmic will have at least 1 card that deals at least 1 energy damage to at least 1 target.

I think it is an X damage card, which won't always be at least 1 damage.  So there.

Captain Cosmic will have a 40-card deck, plus a character card. Said card will feature a picture of the Captain, a power, and the Sentinel Comics logo with a hit point total below, and will have a picture of him defeated on the back, with three incapacitated powers. The deck itself will be a mixture of one-shot, ongoing and equipment cards, some of which will be limited and some of which will be duplicates. All will have art and flavour text. His playstyle will consist largely of using powers and drawing and playing cards, with a focus on some combination of damage, healing, card draw, deck control, deck searching, damage reduction, damage redirection, damage boosting, ongoing destruction, environment destruction, and the ability to play more cards and use more powers.

You realise, of course, that they're going to completely switch him up now just to spite you.

Yeah, and now he probably won't even be in the next Expansion. :stuck_out_tongue:

In soviet Russia, next expansion is in Captain Cosmos!
