You have to understand that damage buffs/debuffs apply *any time* damage is dealt. So Martyr deals 5 damage (But damage is +1. So she deals herself 6 damage). She now attacks a target for an equal amount. She attacks Baron Blade for 6 damage (but damage is +1, so she deals 7 damage).
Same logic still applies with Counterpoint.
Damage self for 5 damage: +1=6 damage. -1 =5 damage.
5 damage attack vs Baron Blade, +1 damage=6 damage.
You do raise an interesting point about Mr. Fixer though. I suppose in order to stay consistent I would be obligated to say:
Fixer Uses Strike to deal 1 damage to Baron Blade, but he has Crowbars so he deals 2 damage. Fixer deals the same amount of damage (2 damage) to Blade Batallion, but he has crowbars, so he deals 3 damage.
This would mean the offhand attack is always stronger than the original strike. And if Monkey Fist were also in play the damage on the attacks would be 3/5. If you tack on Harmony you're up to 4/7. I have never played it this way before, but the wording on the card does indeed seem to indicate it would be the case.
There's a thread with a second-hand Christopher response stating that Dual Crowbars don't get to double dip on damage boosts; the "same amount" wording is meant to denote that.
The difference here is Sacrosanct Martyr actually uses a different wording. It reads: "POWER: Fanatic deals herself up to 5 Radiant damage. Fanatic deals 1 target X Radiant damage, where X = the amount of Radiant damage dealt to Fanatic this turn." Fanatic unambiguously gets both packets boosted separately.
is the thread if you wanna check it out. There's still wiggle room on how it works with reduction, but the second attack definitely is not double boosted.
Dual Crowbars has different wording to Sacrosanct Martyr, which is why they work differently. Sacrosanct Martyr does X damage, whereas Dual Crowbars does "the same" damage.
Ahh okay - see what I meant in that I haven't played Fanatic enough to know well the wording on her cards. Okay, I get it now - I thought that card specified dealing another target the same damage, like Mr Fixer's Crowbars (which I already knew from that other thread don't get extra damage mods for the second hit). I didn't realise it was a second batch of damage. That's cool :). Yay for when she's grouped with Ra and Legacy, then :D.
Except that Ra will make her damage fire, and Sacrosanct Martyr requires it to be Radiant. (Though of course she has other abilities good for pairing with Ra).
