Again, apologies if this is in the wrong place, I'm doing the best I can.
I've had one question on my mind since discoverin Crucible: Where do people talk about fanmade decks? Do you guys even do that? This is the first time I've ever been in a situation where crazy ideas based on a game could become something usable, and I'd love to get some feedback on the junk I've been cobbling together over the last month.
Usually most of that occurs on boardgamegeek I believe, but if this is in the wrong area, I'm sure one of the admins will move it to Off-Topic or somewhere else.
Board game geek SotM variants is a very active community.
Once we get the Oblivaeon decks off to the printers and no more content for the game will be created by GtG we will approach the topic of having a fan creation space on these forums.
If I post a fan deck here, and then Christopher puts out one of his own decks and they have mechanics in common I could sue GtG, which wastes their time and energy.
Their lawyers advised them to not allow it, and they also will not look at fan decks we make, like you can't go to a convention and talk to Christopher about your deck idea, he won't listen.
Just keeps them from creating an openning to get sued.
Human nature (and such laws) often gets in the way of nice things. And yet nice things are often born from human nature (and the existence of these laws).
Personally I'd adore, one day, getting to licence the SotM system or something like that for my own comic characters and stuff because I think this is such a solid system and I hate to see it just be an artifact of the past.
