Fun with Argent Adept

I got to play two games yesterday and played both as Argent Adept. Really enjoyed it. Some of the most fun was that in the first game I ended up focusing almost entirely on dealing damage! I had out both copies of Scherzo of Frost and Flame and was using the pipes to do four points of damage a turn. Not an amazing feat of damage, for sure, but quite interesting for AA to be doing that instead of other things.

Also, due to using playtest decks and homebrew decks, of the 13 decks used in our two games, I believe a total of five of them were released decks. That includes my two plays of AA as 2 of those 13. Fun, fun, fun. If you ever find yourself playing w/ Rabit, you might want to try your hand against his homebrew villain and environment. If you dare.

Can we order one? A Rabit, not the decks (I assume the former would come with the latter).

Are they posted on BGG?  I have used several from there.

One day I hope to live the dream of having Argent go Polyphoric {Harp - Supertonic - [Bell - Syncopated - Subdominant (Vocalize - Syncopated)] Subdominant - [Pipes- Scherzo - Scherzo ]} - [Lyra - Supertonic - <Drum - Syncopated - Scherzo> -Syncopated] }.

Polyphoric plays Harp which plays Supertonic which plays Bell which plays Subdominant which plays Vocalize, which resolves, destroying one Subdominant.  Then Harp plays the other Subdominant which plays Pipes, resolves and destroys.  Argent then strums the Lyra during his power phase, and the Lyra plays Supertonic which plays the Drum.  You thus get to stack +2 to damage onto yourself, then deal 3 fire, 3 cold, 3 fire, 3 cold, 3 sonic, 3 fire, 3 cold, and 3 sonic, for a total of 24 damage, all of which can be to the same target or up to eight different ones (say hi to Warlord Voss for me).

With this kind of damage outlay, you can kill Lt. Tamar with the first three blasts, then take out two Gene-Bound Frost-Hounds, two Firesworn and a Banshee, even though all of the Minions are immune to some of your damage.  Sure, it takes twelve cards (trashing three of them) and 2 damage to yourself, and Mr. Fixer will make fun of you for having to work that hard (when all he needs is Charge and a Jack Handle plus Grease Monkey Fist and Harmony), but it's still totally worth it.  The best part is that the 2 damage Argent deals to himself comes right before he starts getting +2 to damage.  Oh, and you're also giving the +2 to one other hero, or +1 to two of them.

Now that's what I call a pipe dream....

It really was entertaining to see AA tossing around so much damage. :slightly_smiling_face:

They aren't - I don't really post on BGG much. I actually created these purely as something to fill time while I was between running tabletop RPGs, not really as something to share, but I suppose it would be good to get some feedback and ideas for improvements…

I'll see about posting them on BGG. Might be a bit - sick right now and busy weekend coming.

That's when you know you don't play with me enough. I tend to make it a side goal to get set up for damage.

Okay, I shared. Please post any feedback there, though. (Or just enjoy playing with the decks!)

It just so rarely happens so impressively. It's kinda like the game in which I drew 7 of Visionary's damage-dealing cards. She was a powerhouse of brutality that game and did virtually nothing else (except her base power)! I've only seen that happen one other time (I'm sure it does) and it's very humorous to see it.

Now, having side goals is always fun - that one just seems like a good challenge. (My spouse always has a side goal for NightMist to end at maximum hit points, but that's not quite as difficult. )
