I think that if you start off playing against Baron Blade in Insula Primalis you will probably have a fairly easy time of explaining and translating the rules. The heroes with less complicated rules to translate and explain probably include Ra, Tempest, Haka, Fanatic, and possibly Legacy.
Legacy does have nemesis rules to consider if you’re playing him in a game against Baron Blade; however, for a first game with some newbies, you could always wait to introduce that rule.
Agreed, but for the first game, anything that streamlines the game is useful, I think. Thus, I suggest Blade over Omintron, as the flip mechanic is easier to understand.
Yeah, the rule isn’t complicated, but I was thinking about running demos for people who had never heard of the game before, and then thought about ‘what if I had to explain everything in my second language?’ and chose what was easiest to think through/explain without relying on English vocabulary. My thought is that simple logic (if/then or if/always as opposed if/when/then sort of stuff) and fewer mechanics that rely on explanation would be easier for running interpretation (as opposed to sitting down and translating the cards into another language… which eventually yall should totally do for sale in other countries!).
I tend to like language like “OnDamaging.Subscribe(new Response() { Next = d => if(d.Target is VillainCharacter) if(((VillainCharacter)d.Target).IsNemesis(d.Card as HeroTarget)) d.Damage += 1});”
I would be totally an advocate for printing in other languages, but someone would have to license it from us, because that’s something we have neither the skill set nor the time to produce.
