Gender-Swaptober

And almost commented about a third way to read it – but decided to keep it clean(ish).  :sunglasses:

It's too late, we've all been corrupted. D:

I want to see a pic of the swapped Prime Wardens, with Tempest standing there, exactly the same, looking confused. "Something's changed about you four, and I can't quite figure out what..."

It's kind of interesting to me that just a simple gender swap kinda takes Setback and Expat from a "sweet ditzy guy and tough lady" dynamic to a sort of "ingenue and bad boy" dynamic.

Also yes, purple stubble is incredibly amusing. Expat's hair being purple on more than just the top of their head raises some... questions.

It's her(his in this case) inherited superpower

Yeah Setback remains cute, but Expatriette is my Sentinels crush, so I'll keep preferring the usual ones.  Although it is a great picture.  Also really drives home that Setback and Expat are very close to the standard Grizzled and Jaded roughian falling for the Manic Pixie Dream Girl and deciding to be good, only, you know, Genderswapped.

Also, still voting for Ms. Fixer and the Patriarch.

Putting down a vote for She-Ra.

Wait...Christopher doesn't want us saying that....

Putting a vote down for Re-Sha, the Pyro-Master of the Universe.

I guess the female version of Ra would be one of his wives, maybe bastet who is a protector of people

I think those questions have been answered, we just don't need to talk about them.

@Princess Cool: Killjoy. ;P

Also, over on Reddit, some folks are going "Now that they're gender-swapped, the fact that Setback got their powers when Kismet hexed them in retaliation for a breakup and Setback and Expat met when the latter accidentally shot the former, are both a little disturbing", and I'm like, "the fact that you only now find them a little disturbing says a bit about how we as a society view gender".

I hear about the reddit conversation and all i can think of is a Grunge Rock male version of Kismet. I don't know why but when i think of what a gender swapped Kismet might look like, Rob Zombie pops up in my head...

Kismet hexing Setback is typical woman scorned though, one of the oldest tropes in existence( It turns up in Gilgamesh, and the  Táin) so it's more accepted than the spear counterpart.

As for Expat shooting Setback, it's equally strange both ways

Based on the story we've gotten on it I find the shooting funny regardless of gender.   As to the other piece it's messed up no matter what to actually succeed in cursing someone like that.

I know it's slightly cheating, but I would probably call him Mister Action. Unlike Miss Information, who pretends to be a humble secretary, Mister Action pretends to be a humble security guard / helper (since sadly, male receptionists still kind of draw attention.) He leaps into action, in ways designed to subtly screw everything up.

And we have Citizens Dawn, Hammer, and Anvil!

As cool as Hammer and Anvil look, I and LOVING Dawn's beard.  (Disclosure: it might be because I have a red beard, and therefore might be biased.)

I don't know about Dawn's beard, it stops you from seeing the resemblance to Expat, which I think is important.

I'd be willing to bet that Citizen Dawn kicked out Expat in this universe at least in part because his beard was never as magnificent and well-maintained as his father's.

Oh my god, that beard is epic. :D

Does anyone else think Anvil looks a lot like Fanatic? Maybe it's just the armor and stoicism...

Citizen Dawn is hands down my favorite FtM SotM character we’ve seen so far.

I know right? And either way, they didn't hex them intentionally, they were just mad and said a very minor insult, which while rude is not exactly unexpected in a breakup (And lets face it, Setback was pretty callous for their part, at least pay lip service to long distance!). Bottom line I think people are overreacting.
