It's 4/13, the 6-year anniversery of the bizarre internet epic, Homestuck! And also the end of its large hiatus, and the beginning of what is supposedly the final chapter, Act 6: Act 6: Act 5! So exciting! I wonder what this last act-act-act has in store?
Oh, and also, hi again, I exist still and Sentinels is still great! I want to start coming here more often again; small forums where everybody is more or less friends are the best.
It's very popular, but I somehow managed to begin reading it with no outside knowledge whatsoever. I didn't even realize it was a webcomic until I searched for it. I thought it was some sort of anime? In the end I think I was able to enjoy it more than if I'd been one of the people who only found it after being innundated with OCs and weird fanart and leetspeaking fans. Some of them can be a little, um, overzealous in their efforts to get others to read it.
That said, it is a very fascinating project. The author's goal was essentially to write a story that made full use of the Internet as a storytelling medium, rather than just make ordinary comics and post them online. A big part of that was letting the fans participate in creating the story, whether through telling the characters what to do as if it were an adventure game, or composing musical scores to play during the Flash cutscenes.
It's worth mentioning that the website contains several stories told in the "MS Paint Adventure" format besides Homestuck. The first two stories were never finished, but the third, named "Problem Sleuth," was successfully completed shortly before Homestuck began. You don't HAVE to read Problem Sleuth to understand what's happening in the current story, but a few running gags that began in Problem Sleuth are continued in Homestuck. PS is not as technically ambitious or impressive as Homestuck, but it's a fun read. It's your call. I started with HS, and still enjoyed it just fine.
Anybody know how to get the image controls to actually resize something? I drew that thing in like ten minutes and it's kind of ugly when you see it that close...

I knew I majoring in Fashion & Molecular Biology was a waste of time, all the real money is in seaweed and it's application to the revival of the ascot.
