I hate Iron Legacy

Man I hate that guy.  He's like that friend that comes over to your house unannounced, eats your food, punches a whole clean through your stomach, and leaves with your liver.  I have never beat him or even come close.

But it I love him for it.  He is my goal.  I will beat him, he will fall, and I'll buy my self a reward ice cream when I do.

Sorry I just had to post after he whooped me and the wife.

Unless you get into some kind of tanky stalemate as the Scholar or something, games against Iron Legacy are generally over pretty quickly (usually around ten minutes when we play). If you're having major troubles coming up with a winning team, try and include Fanatic - End of Days can deal with most of his horrible ongoings and once you've been battered around a fair bit you can often one-shot him with Wrathful Retribution. Having someone like TLT along to help with card draw would be useful (though she'll go down pretty quickly due to the Nemesis bonus), and anyone else with ongoing destruction in case Superhuman Redirection (is that what it's called, I can't remember) comes out at a really bad time (like, right before you plan to go all Wrathful on him).

Bring Tempy, do what you can, then let him die. Once he is incapped, things get much easier.

I would say that having ongoing destruction early on is key.   Probably one of the better moments for AZ is starting that game with a Fueled Freeze in hand.

Fanatic can be influential, also, both with End of Days to get rid of Ongoings and Wrathful Retribution to finish things off.

Bring Parse too. Seriously, she makes a lot of things SO much easier. Speeds up a hero's turn, destroys ongoings, and Buffer Overflow can send a card to the trash if it's devastating enough.

I like Redirection vs. IL.  it doesn't take many shots to bring him down, turn a few of his around and he's done.

Also anyone that can prevent villain damage like Tachyon, Wraith or Scholar are great, 1 round is generally enough to swing the fight.

Guise is pretty helpful, too. Irreducible, IRREDIRECTIBLE DAMAGE? That's pretty hot, with his flip side advanced text and multiple Superhuman Redirections in play.

I personally prefer Iron Legacy to the Chairman. The Freedom six minus Unity is actually not a bad team to take against him since they all have some form of ongoing destruction. Chances are you'll be able to destroy one or two ongoings in the first round.

I've seen that link before.  Still get murdered.

The important thing vs. IL is to buy rounds with cards like Mistbound, Throat Jab, Ground Pound, Grease Gun, etc.

Then find ways to turn damage around with redirection, counter-damage, and getting some irreducible damage on him.

He doesn't have much health, so getting his defense cleared and throat jabbing him can be a win.

The problem with IL is you have such limited time you need a few key cards or heroes that can pull what you need.

I love Sky-Scraper vs. IL, esp. paired with Fixer so you can hunt for Grease Gun and Jack-Handle and then IL is pretty much toast.

Jackhandle/Riveting Crane + Compulsion Canister is awesome.

Most IL games are pretty short too.  But I've seen two long ones:

1. Nightmist as surviving hero in Mist Form - she accumulated cards while incap hero powers took out on-goings and helped her draw more cards.  Would drop out of Mist Form eventually to do a Mist-Fueled Recovery for HP, fight for a bit, and then go back to Mist Form if necessary.

2.  Hero group included Legacy - and he got Next Evolution into play early as well as Lead From the Front.  So he sat and tanked melee damage while the other heroes got time to do the work of taking IL down.

There is a third option for extended games and it is essential in the "Easy way to beat IL" method.

Abuse IR's inability to destroy environments by hiding behind the Metor Storm in Wagner Mars Base.

Do that with Golem Unity and have fun.

Your describing my first game against Iron Legs, got taken out in a twin light speed barrage.

First game against Iron Legacy he went down to Pride and Prejudice. One through each eye. Didn't help that Expatriette was the only one left standing at the end.

Love it when all the super powered Heroes go down, and Expat finishes off the bad guy.

"Take that Mom!"

It is done, he is finished.  Finally got him.  Bought myself a milkshake.  :)
