Incorrect interpretation of Savage Mana

<Split off of Favorite Combos thread>

Savage Mana against Akash'bhuta. I know it's not technically a combo, but seriously, we just did 97 damage to her in one shot, no Haka of Battle involved. :open_mouth: It was hilarious!

How did you get to 97 damage?  Akash'bhuta's limbs don't trigger a second time when they're destroyed from under Savage Mana.

Aren't cards under Savage Mana blank? (unless you're saying you had 48 cards under it & Punish the Weak!)

Nope - from what I recall, destruction effects happen again, but maybe I'm wrong! :slightly_smiling_face:

(Honestly, she only had ~20 HP left, so we took her down, anyway!)

Either way, have a cookie.

It's tricky.  Destruction effects happen again.  BUT - cards under Savage Mana have no text (except for which deck they came from).  So destruction effects on the cards themselves don't exist, and many other destruction effects (such as CC's construct destruction effects) won't recognize that they are the proper card type.  Only cards that trigger when "a card is destroyed" or "a ___ card is destroyed" where that blank is Hero, Villain, or Environment will trigger.

Check the Savage Mana section.

Yeah, I realized after my last post just how wrong I was.

It's the the cards triggering text outside the Savage Mana that messes me up once in a while.

(This is what happens when I play without my rules-lawyer friends and I'm tired. )

I'm so used to trading card games where destruction effects occurs in the graveyard, and I want to rule it the same way you did, Rabit. But then you have hairy cases where cards are "not considered in play" and it's just easier the way SotM handles these things.

Totally agree. My issue is predominantly the "first learned" problem, where something we learn later turns out to be wrong but we can't get it out of our heads. And it's especially hard to recognize when I'm tired.

I know. There are some things in life that no matter how many times you try to correct it, it just doesn’t happen.

There is this art gallery that I pass all the time, and it has a vig sign that says ā€œ1 day framingā€. For some reason, every time I pass it, I read it as ā€œ1 day farmingā€, and I am always confused about what that means.
