So they have posted the line-up for stretch goals all the way to $50,000 on the Kickstarter page. Which are you most excited for and why?
I’m excited about the alternate Baron Blade…I always prefer more game content. After that I’m excited for the HP and modifier cards for officially helping the stat tracking issues many have critiqued the game for. All this said…I’m one who is pledged for the base game and expansion. I haven’t even played yet and I’m excited for this!
I’m curious what’s up their sleeves for the $50k mark, mainly due to the mysterious secrecy. Though there isn’t too much chance for that (most people who want to pledge have pledged by now).
Maybe the $50k mark will be the rules and costumes for LARPing so that way you just don’t experience the fun, you live it! I sure hope my guess isn’t true…
Though, a straight RPG would be a more likely choice. I’ve not been impressed with the comic book RPGs I’ve seen around, but I have yet to play one so who knows.
Yanno I could probably work something out as far as an RPG is concerned. I am a long time player and GM for multiple RPGs and have rather extensive experience with world-building. Will have to think about this in greater depth.
I’m thinking modifications to the Champions RPG would probably work out, because the few times I have played it it has a very good system going for it. Sadly since I don’t own a source book I can’t actually see how well it would work making the SotM team.
Edit: Something I noticed about the HP counters. They said twenty-one counters, so the female accompanying The Chairman must have her own HP. So my guess is that they play two cards each round rather then one or she has her own deck.
While Champions is a good system it is rather complicated to make characters. I think I got a few ideas in mind of how to make a simple and fun RPG that would fit the style of SotM. Still in the planning stages and will post when I have something closer to a playable system if the lawyers of >G will allow that.
A really excellent and affordable RPG that I feel is well-suited for SotM is Supers! By Beyond Belief Games. You can get it at RPGNow. I have the system and love it.
I may make a mock up of a hero or two with the rules to see how the Sentinels look. Hmmmm…
Anyone here played Mutants and Masterminds? I played a bit of that with Adam and a couple other friends. Had a good bit of fun with it, though it’s not necessarily “balanced”. As with any RPG, the system is not as important as a good storytelling GM with fun ideas. I like to think I did well enough.
You did well, yes, Christopher. Mutants and Masterminds is definitely a system that is HEAVILY dependent on storytelling, and if that means fudging the rules more than a bit here or there, so be it. I have Icons from RPGNow, and I’ve been unimpressed with the system in reading it, though I haven’t had a chance to try it. Supers! is looking good, I may have to give it a shot.
