KNYFE and chains

It took me a couple of games to see KNYFE go crazy. Now that I have, I have a reasonably good handle on how do treat this Complexity One hero. Was it obvious to everyone else that she’s like a console fighter game  character?

Here’s what I mean. (I’m omitting draws for clarity) During my mostly weekly game night, we were playing Vengeance, and I had Focusing Conduit-Blade and Battlefield Experience out. I played For the Greater Good, which played “Energy Burn” for 7 and used Battlefield Experience’s power. Net 13 to Baron Blade. This destroyed BE so I drew a card and played Amplified Combatant to get to 17 to the Baron. That was the play phase. Then I used my regular power to net 20 to the Baron and drew a card.

While this will almost never come to pass – too many cards lined up nicely – I can see how it could go on through most of the deck. I felt like I was hitting “Punch punch kick, punch punch kick…”

Does this line up with everyone else's experience with the character?

I’m not sure I understand the question. Are you complaining about a lack of variety in her tactics and the specificity of her focus?

No complaints at all. It's good clean fun for a level one hero. My questions were simply has everyone seen how her cards interact to create chains, and does it feel like anyone else like a console fighter game.

I didn't get the console fighter feel from her, but I did get a solid feel for her 'chains' of play in the few times that I've played her.  For the Greater Good and Battlefield Experience combine beautifully, particularly if your Conduit Blade and Servo Gauntlet are already in play.

I find that KNYFE may be my favorite of the Vengeance heroes, actually.  She takes a bit of forethought to build up chains of attacks, giving her a touch more complexity than, say, Ra or Haka.  But, she's effective straight out of the gate and really only gets stronger the more she has in play.  Plus, her ability to kill a target and and ongoing in one shot is pretty awesome.

The highest someone in my group got with Knyfe's damage was 50 in one turn, without any outside buffs. Think he played all copies of For the Greater Good and Battlefield Experience, plus had her own damage buffs for melee and energy. This was on Mars fighting Plague Rat, so we had a Metoer Storm to delay and build up.

I would agree with the feel, you throw together moves, trying to set up for a big combo, if you are a fighting gamer she probably will feel that way.

I stopped playing Street Fighter a long time ago, but yeah, she feels like that.

Haven't played a fighter in a long, long time. They were a favorite of mine, though.

I play Fighters all the time and now I'm suddenly interested in her.  :open_mouth:

I remember we ran into a game with Knyfe, the Sentinels and Naturalist, where Knyfe ended up with her hand in her deck and at full health and we decided to see how much damage she could put out in a single turn.

If I remember right, she got a number higher than Unity's single turn damage (the previous no-outside-intereference record). She punched herself a lot too, but that we didn't count that.

She can hurt people good.
