Massive Damage, just for funsies

(This is a long post, feel free to ignore it. It's been fun getting to this point.)

So... this is how it started. Two days ago, I felt like doing a random game and I ended up with Grand Warlord Voss in Megalopolis vs Legacy, Tempest, Wraith, Bunker and Haka. I've been playing the same game since then. I'm almost done.

If you recall, Voss is a bit nasty what with his minions and Forced Deployment. However,  Legacy and Tempest can lay down some serious area-effect damage to pretty much wipe them out. But that causes Voss to flip and he does extra damage and getting him to flip back isn't fun at all.

Then I had an idea. What if Haka used Savage Mana to keep the minions from ever going into the trash? But wait, What if Haka used Savage Mana to keep ALL minions from going into the trash? How much damage could Haka really do in one round?

So that's what I did. I pursed this to it's obvious end. My heroes became this:

 * Legacy was my enabler, life preserver, and healer. With Fortitude, Motivational Charge, Next Evolution and Lead from the Front (especially when the TCF Stalwart or TCF Conqueror in play) I could prevent a lot of damage.

* Tempest became my healer. With his area damage and the crazy damage that Voss does whenever he has no minions, I didn't want him wiping the slate clean.

* Wraith became card control. Utility Belt, Infrared Eye Piece and Grappling hook allowed her to take care that things didn't get nasty before we knew about it.

* Bunker... WAIT. BUNKER HAS AN OMNI CANNON! How much damage can THAT do? Bunker was also my backup for damage to weaken things for Haka.

* Haka crush! Once Savage Mana was in play, no one touched any minion if they were going to destroy it. So Haka could get the benefit of destroying the card and placing it under Savage Mana.

So here's how the chips fell. Legacy, once he got motivational charge, started healing and, once he got the Legacy Ring, used Galvanize for damage boosts. Once he had Inspiring Presence, damage was boosted even more. Same for Tempest. When needed Tempest could raise hell with Ball Lightning or Chain Lightning to help out, but otherwise he was healing every round with Cleansing Downpour. Wraith, once she got the needed tools, could control the deck a lot including causing Forced Deployment to act early for Haka's benefit. Bunker was drawing cards. All of them. Skipping play turns, skipping power turns, using Ammo Drop. DRAW ALL THE CARDS. When Omni Cannon came up, he starts shoving all his cards underneath. Haka was doing the same to find Savage Mana with as many copies of Dominion as he could have in play. There's only two in his deck. It took a while. Legacy's Bolster Allies helped, too, when it came up.

I think I've played 60 or 70 rounds of the game at this point. The game is almost over. Here's where things stand:

Nearly all cards for all heroes are either in play or in their hand. Voss has four cards left in his deck. The two TCFs and the two Forced Deployments. The game keeps wanting to shuffle the trash, but there's no trashes to shuffle! No one is taking significant damage. Everyone, including Voss, is at full or near-full hit points. We're healing and avoiding hitting Voss, just for fun. Legacy and Tempest have a mix of cards in play and in hand. None are getting used. Wraith, just for kicks, is loading up as much of her equipment as possible. Three Infrared Eyepieces, three Micro Computers, everything, just to see what happens with Inventory Barrage. (Estimate: 28 points of damage, without Legacy's modifiers.) Bunker has pretty much everything under Omni Cannon. 34 cards for an unmodified damage of 68. In retrospect, I could have added more because I didn't REALLY need two Maintenance Units or that Flak Cannon and I should have left a copy of Adhesive Foam Grenade out, just to save on the Environment. (It was slowing me down, what with all the Plummeting Monorails. You'd think the city planners would get on that. Talk about poor infrastructure!) Finally, Haka has every minion and Thorathian under Savage Mana for a total of 20 cards or 40 points of unmodified damage. (With Haka of Battle, I got an extra 35.)

Basically I have pwned Grand Warlord Voss. He's flipped (his lid) and it's time to destroy him.

Sadly, given the order of my heroes (Legacy, Tempest, Wraith, Bunker, Haka), Haka may never get a chance to unleash Savage Mana. The Wraith is can hit Voss for at least 28, and Bunker will finish him off. I think Wraith has had her fun. Let's let Haka have HIS fun. He's been patient.

See the attached screenshots.

That was fun. Now I wonder if I can do the same with Citizen Dawn...

Notes:

* The funny thing about having all your cards in your hand is that you get to reuse them. A lot. Use it. Discard. Shuffle Trash. Draw it.

* The game got slloooww on my tablet. Apparently drawing all those cards takes time. It also got a bit crashy, but that could have been my tablet and memory. Maybe I'll try again on the Steam version. Restarting the game seemed to help.

* This took a long time. At least 4 hours of playing time on the subway and bus to and from work. :)

* This was also REALLY BORING near the end. I was only able to get one or two minions per round. Terribly annoying. :)

* And I had to recharge my tablet. Twice.

I did similar with Haka in a different thread.  I got 114 damage in one hit.  I could have infinitely gone higher if I wanted by repeatedly playing Haka of Battle but I was getting a bit bored at the point I did 114.

Now do it on the island so Haka can eat all the dinosaurs as well, all while standing on top of three obsidian fields.

And bring Visionary so Haka can eat her Decoy.

Haka smash BOTS!

Hahah, you guys are awesome. I'll have to try it in different environments. :)

do that in time cataclysm, then when fixed point comes out everyone damages fanatic, then fanatic plays retribution from like -300HP.

If you use Haka to kill something that only has HP because of Imbued Vitality, does that work?

Oh, wow - that one never occured to me before. I love it.

Plus, Twist the Ether lets haka eat the ships.

Just for fun, I tried this in Insula Primalis with Legacy, Visionary, Wraith, and Haka. I screwed up a bit in the middle of the game and was in single digits, so it took a while for Legacy to use Next Generation/Inspiring Charge enough to bring himself and everyone else back up to full HP.

And eventually things got silly when Wraith and Haka had all their cards in hand, and were just playing the occasional Grappling Hook or a constant stream of Ground Pounds + Mere (to melee-immune Legacy) to prevent the environment from undoing Legacy's hard work.

Eventually Legacy was at full HP, every target was under Savage Mana, and it was time to kill Voss:

Haka ended up 25 cards in hand, including another Haka of Battle, had it been necessary to deal with Voss on the next turn. Though I suspect a Rampage might have worked better for restocking against Savage Mana with Voss' minions.

All things considered, one-shotting Voss is pretty cool.
