Miss Information

Well, really, the reason that The Chairman takes no damage is because at that time, the heroes do not know who the leader of this organized crime syndicate is.  They know only of The Operative, and find various underbosses and thugs.  After defeating so many underbosses, they manage to extract enough information to figure out that the leader is actually Chairman Pike, and now can go after him (as he is no longer immune to all damage).  That would likely be the reason for him to not be a target at all, and it probably became an issue as the setup could potentially (even though unlikely) lead to a situation where there were no non-hero targets.

Because the idea of someone so close yet so invisible turning against the heroes in secret actually seems pretty scary to me

That makes sense if you're playing as the Freedom Five, but what if you're playing with some other assortment of heroes that night?  Why would Mr. Fixer, Nightmist, or Fanatic pay the slightest bit of attention to the FF's slightly ill-tempered secretary, and why would she care about them?  They weren't the ones who let her die.  Do we think that The Assistant is going to knock over a bank or try to stop the FF by blowing up the world?

I suppose it wouldn't be the end of the world to have a villain that was designed to be a perfect match with a particular set of heroes, but only weakly themed for other matchups.  However, even Ambuscade, who has a very tight relationship to Haka, can easily be seen to be hunting any hero you felt like playing.  I hope that will be the case with The Assistant too.

From a bad villain eye all heroes are enemies, so she will attack them even if Mr. Fixer, … does not wanted to attack back.

I think in the past GTG did not think about a Villain without HP, so that is why the chairman has HPs with damage immunity. As long as we know nearly nothing about the Assistant we can fight each other, but possibly this is the Assistant's plan :smiling_imp: .

As mentioned earlier, The Chairman originally did not have HP.

High five, man. High five.

Spiff, imagine this scenario: the Freedom Five figure out who's been messing with them a moment to late. Just as Tachyon drops her sandwich and turns to look at The Assistant in horror she's caught in a stasis beam. Her face twists into a mask of rage and sadness before being frozen in time, motionless. If even the fastest woman in the world isn't fast enough, the others have no chance. Traps designed to exploit each of their weaknesses spring and capture them before they can move a muscle. The Assistant's thirst for revenge prevents her from merely slitting their throats. No, she has something much more… satisfying in mind. Each of them feels a prick on their neck from the anesthetic injection and they fade from consciousness, their trusted secretary's bitter laughter ringing in their ears.

The Assistant puts each of them in power-neutralizing shackles and dangles their limp bodies helplessly above specially tailored contraptions to end them in the most painful way. She'll wait until they all regain consciousness, of course. None of this would be worth a thing if she squandered her opportunity to finally hear their screams and taste of their despair.

Earth's greatest heroes are on the verge of annihilation, and it's up to Mr. Fixer, Nightmist, Fanatic and Omnitron-X to save them. Can they set aside their differences and stop The Assistant? Or will they, like the Freedom Five before them, be one moment too late?

That sounds great.  Can't wait to find out if it's true. :)

ExcxcExcellent post, Cosmonaut Zero!

On a slightly unrelated tangent, does anyone think The Assistant should perhaps be renamed? We have a surfeit of villains beginning with 'A'.

Ambuscade, Akash'Bhuta, Apostate and now The Assistant.

Plus, the Assistant makes her sound like she's playing second fiddle, like even when she's an evil villain, she's just somebody's PA. I'd put a vote in for 'The Secretary', myself.

But if Dilbert has taught us anything, secretaries are already deceitful and misanthropic. Nobody'd be surprised if one of them turned out to be a supervillain. Or at least, the ones who are the secretaries of sociopaths are.

"Why didn't you Friend me on Facebook?"

"Because I'm not your friend. I'm a disgruntled underling who hopes you die in a freak industrial accident tomorrow at 4:30 PM."

"That was... disturbingly specific."

"Oh, that reminds me! Your next meeting is scheduled at the warehouse."

This is exactly where my brain went with the Assistant too. I kind of hope that through the play testing process they decide to make it so that she can't be a target on her starting side… or possibly make her a target with like 10 HP and on her starting side you try to save her since you mistakenly think that she's your helpless PA and then she flips and bam! Super villain!

At the risk of spoilers, I think I can safely say that as of now this villain seems to be something along those lines.

Probably shouldn't reveal any more, so all I will say is that The Assistant has some interesting mechanics and a lot of her cards sound hilarious.

That is all I need to know, Alex! I am really looking forward to her (and La Capitan). I guess I'm just interested in beating women, or something...so many of my favourite enemies or PCs are female...I should probably look into that.

Blossercubbles…

Blossom

Buttercup

Bubbles

…Are you a Powerpuff Girls fan, Blossercubbles?  Or am I just reading into things?

Because if you are…you have good taste.

Powerpuff Girls is awesome.  I own the complete DVD collection.

Wow… Did not notice that. I saw the name and wondered to myself what it could mean.

Good ol' cartoons though, may the goodness return some day.

Then you should enjoy this expansion.  And, you should seek help.

(This shouldn't be giving away that much, since La Capitan and Assistant have now been revealed).

The gender ratio of this expansion is heavily skewed, although, all previous releases has been heavily skewed the other direction, maybe this would even it out a bit.  (Note, I haven't actually counted yet.)

Wow. You, my dear, have hit the nail directly on the head, and happen to be the first person ever to do so, at least that has told me about it. Yep. The Powerpuff Girls are amazing, though I've still been unable to track a physical complete set…yet.

And yeah, with La Capitan being revealed today, I noticed that she isn't the masked woman on the side of the box, leading me to assume that we'll see THREE out of FIVE villains (at least) being female, and no female heroes, unless the promo is a lady as well. I'm glad to see more female representation when it comes to evildoing. Sedusa was one of my top villains from PPG, in fact, cementing it with the episode in which she portrayed Ima Goodlady.

And no boob windows so far!  >G does a great job of making attractive female characters with classy taste in costumes (and functional shoes for Tachyon!).

Hmm... I thought it was stated that the woman on the side of the box was La Capitán.
