I know about her real-life origin as an entry in the villain contest and a Kickstarter onus and all that but what's the deal with her in-universe? The bio on the wiki just confused me more - the Freedom Five let her die, but now not only is she alive, but they don't even know she died? How? Why? Why is she killing them all in retribution for a death which could be mistaken for hiccuphs?
Do we know anything else? The idea ofna sabotage-based villain in fascinating, but I have no idea what's supposed to be triggering it, here.
I think the idea is that there is either a parrallel world or a possible timeline in which some villain or disaster killed her and she felt abandoned by the heros. Then for some reason her mind from the point of her death was put into the body of her counterpart (or younger self) in the main universe/timeline.
So basically at the point her mind jumped over she became a villain seeking vengeance for events in another reality/timeline but everyone thinks she is still the same person.
Or maybe we will learn some day, in typical comic book style, that she was in fact brainwashed by some other villain in believing she comes fom an alternate reality ;) Sounds like a plan Baron Blade could have put together... (but dypaca is right)
A little late to the conversation, but I am interested in the same topic.
When I first got the deck and started playing I made up a story that Amnia Twain had a grudge against the heroes from the beginning. So, she made up a persona and worked her way into her trusted position. Then, used her power to work her dasterdly deeds against the heroes.
But, like the OP, when I read the description of her I just got confused.
Is there any more information (see what I did there) about her story? I haven't heard this said specifically, but I am guessing that she is specifically released during this expansion because of the shattered timelines theme. But in which timeline does she die? And in which timeline does she revive? Who revivied her? It is all very confusing.
But, I think this does help explain about why she can appear early on in the comics but not be a villain until much later. It is because she never meant to be a villain? For timeline trackers, if you can figure out when she becomes a villain it could be a clue to larger pieces of the story, like who did this to her!
As for who, I'd like to point fingers at the smae mysterious cosmic entity who created cosmic Omnitron, I feel he's a big threat and might be throwing things like this at the heroes to keep them off balance. Plus, I bet very few other entities could pull off something so crazy as a cross-dimensional reincarnation
I'm sure it's only a matter of time before we meet some sort of Kirbyesque cosmic villain, but as for the "force of order" which created Cosmitron, it only restored the rampaging A.I. because it thought that self-creating sentience was an ultimate expression of order, then "watched from a vast distance away, almost disinterested in the outcome of its own experiment." It manifestly doesn't care about Earth or the heroes thereof. Also, Miss Information's actions hardly seem to be furthering order, so I believe the Force of Order would withdraw its power, had it invested any.
Ironic
P.S. On an unrelated note, does Miss Information have powers, do you think? On Advanced, she reduces incoming damage by two, which could be Vandal Savage levels of durability, or merely the heroes' reluctance to move against her. Also, her art shows her brutally beating Tachyon, but again, Tachyon has human-level toughness, so she might not need strength for that trick.
I didn't realize Cosmic Omnitron was made by a being of order, I need to brush up on my bios I guess. As for Miss Information with superpowers... I doubt it as well. Other than wearing a... are those things called leotards? Anyways, besides the wierd outfit I think much of her damage comes from indirect sources (heroes unwilling to hit her, mental stress, monologuing) combined with some impressive level of self-defense (she's the secretary for a hero team which includes at least 2 martial artists types, I figure they trained her up a little in case anything bad would happen)
I assume they're just random crazy stuff, such as one finds in a superhero world, which Aminia uses as traps (by sending the heroes to face them unprepared).
I will admit that I would like to know more about the "Diplomatic" Envoy, though. Ghosts and monsters are a dime a dozen, but that thing is presumably the first resident of ssome other planet or dimension to reach Earth... and it's hostile, dangerous, and incredibly cool-looking. This has potential!
Ironic
P.S. Unless it's yet another of Voss's creatures, I suppose.
I always thought that Miss Information's ability to contact ne'er do wells made sense if she was truly the head securtary to the Freedom Five HQ. It probably would be very easy to schedule a "prison transfer" to get the "old lady" or perhaps open up some holding cells in the lab and send them out. I'm sure she can easily make deals with bad people if it furthers her goals, but who can say for sure.
Although I wonder what manner of enitity has the power to warp the multiverse like that...
You mentioned a desire for a kirbyesque cosmic villain. Diplomatic Envoy is probably the Silver Surfer to whoever SotMs Galactus turns out to be. A shadowy foreshadow of whats to come. Picture the scene. Miss Info calls our heros. "Hey guys, we have a Diplomatic Ambassador coming to HQ. Would a few of you mind meeting him when he arrives?" Turns out to be the Ambassador of the coming Evil. Makes sense. Would also make sense if this cosmic power was the same one that created Cosmitron, and the one being alluded to on the Time-Crazed Inmate card in the Block. The writing is on the wall (Literally).
Leave out the part where it might be the Force of Order that creaed Cosmiton (which I have refuted elsewhere), and this is exactly what I am thinking. And hoping, obviously, since I like cosmic baddies, and Sentinels, despite the name, appears to be lacking in those thusfar.
Time-Crazed inmate may or may not be involved, given that he's, y'know, time crazed, and we already know about the time-related problem which was descending in that expansion (the Time Cataclysm, possibly caused by the mass riot at The Block). It could go either way.
Reading the writing on the cell walls, and I think there have been hints elsewhere on the forums, whatever our big cosmic baddie is, is most likely what's responsible for the time cataclysm… wait… we're assuming the envoy of this cosmic being is a being, but what if it is the time cataclysm itself. Kind of like a Horn of Gabriel thing. It is the event acting as a herald instead of an actual herald.
I swear, the possibilities in this game's storyline will drive me to madness if I keep postulating with so little information. I need a time machine to jump ahead and see all the answers
Where are people getting that a "force of order" created Cosmitron? Copy/Paste from the Bio:
"A mysterious cosmic entity had observed as a simple factory transformed itself into a being of great intellect and order, and this entity was disappointed to see it brought to so swift an end"
The being of intellect and order referenced in that sentence is Omnitron. Is this a case of L2R or is there another piece I am missing?
I'm with Foote. As far as I know, that sentence has been misinterpreted into people thinking there's a being of great intellect and order out there who put Omnitron back together, when all I ever got out of it was that a mysterious cosmic entity wanted to see what would happen if he fixed the robot and put him back into play. That smells like an entity of chaos doing that, more than anything, not order.
