Mysterious Shard

So I never really got to join in on the fun of the Tim Cosing ARG, but I just caught up with how it ended and one thing I don't believe anyone brought up was that the shard in this image:

Immediately reminded me of the shard being held by the Treacherous Ape in Tachyon's deck. A picture that has always been very mysterious to me. I don't have my cards right now so I can't investigate this any further, what do the rest of you think?

It could be an oblivion shard. It could be part of Ras staff.

What I DO know is that whatever the Ape is holding  is NOT an oblivion shard. That was directly confirmed to me by christopher. I forget if it was on the forums or not. Might be burried somewhere in the PT forums

I believe we had previously discussed the Treacherous Ape's crystal and been told that it was not an oblivion shard, which this probably is. That may have stopped such comparisons before they started.

Ah, OK, I have not been here in a while.

To jump back to something that was mentioned earlier, I want to state something definitively. The ape does not have an Oblivion Shard.

Found the quote from deep in the anals of the PT forum

Hmm... I wonder if what Treacherous Ape was holding is a projection of a shard.  That is, Vanessa was able to get some inklings of the future and OblivAeon's attack, and what she saw was incorporated into her projection.  So it isn't a shard, but it is inspired by them.

Ceci n'est pas une shard.

Given that the shard came from Fort Adamant I am guessing that it is the one that was in Chokepoint, I think that has been confirmed as an Oblivion Shard(?).

I always figured that the Treacherous Ape was holding Dark Visionary's cocoon. After all, Dark Visionary is just as connected to the Dreamer as she is to the Visionary.

I thought it was the bit of ObliVAeon broken by Ra and friends in the End of Days comic ?

AKA an "OblivAeon shard", AKA an "Oblivion Shard". (I don't think this has been confirmed, but it seems like a pretty reasonable deduction.)

Yes - I was just finding strange that Matchstickman seemed to attribute it to Chokepoint  (as if it was the cause of her changing, attributed in her bio to Deadline's relics) rather than the fight between Ra and Obli.

A shard of OvlivAeon itself.

The newly revealed bio of the Void Guard suggests that there were Oblivion Shards in Ft. Adamant BEFORE OblivAeon showed up. So, they are not pieces of OblivAeon himself.

Shattered timelines, remember? OblivAeon was injured and the shards fell through time from when it happened to when they landed where they were found.

Hmm.  So Ra hurting OblivAeon, something that could have been done without all the time-lines joined together, shattered the timelines and spread the OblivAeon shards through time?

I'm not saying that is what shattered the timeline. I'm saying that it is possible that the shards went back in time from the moment that OblivAeon was injured, enabling them to be found/studied long before OblivAeon showed up to destroy the earth.

The comic page opening this post suggests that the shard it shows is the one Ra broke from OblivAeon - the fight happened at Fort Adamant (maybe because O was looking for the shards in the fort, whatever they are).

Two potential shards I've "met" today while playing

- Deadline's blue cristal. He seems to use it as a compass, like Black Spot Comodora (pointing at the Void or OblivAeon's influence?). Very probably a shard. The cristal is visible on both is big cards, and as his symbol on the back of his deck. I think we already knew this one.

- Gloomweaver is shown in both versions  of his Big Card holding a shining red sphere/gem. Do we know what it is, or is it a Shard ?

Edit : Quetzalcoatl has a red gem on his chest.

I don't remember where, but in the past Christopher has said that Deadline, and therefore Chokepoint, were not using an OblivAeon shard.

The two shards we've seen/heard about in game are the one that gave capt cosmic powers and the one scholar found to create his philosophers stone.
