Given the fact that most people seem to think that any new environments which are introduced to the game should be as widely-applicable as possible (see here: http://greaterthangames.info/forum/index.php/topic,148.0.html), then how many of these generic environments (i.e. you can picture fighting just about any villain there) can we think up?
Keep in mind that if any of these actually appear in future expansions, it’s because the >Games guys had already thought them up, not that they got the idea from here, so their lawyers don’t need to worry.
I’ll start:
Underground Cave Complex
cave-ins
mole people
blind cave creatures
mysterious underground lake
lava flows
etc.
Time Travel Vortex
mammoths
pirates
WWII soldiers
future cops
bi-planes
time swirls and chrono flows
etc.
Arctic Base
whiteouts/snowblindness
frostbite
crevasses
avalanches
wendigo/yeti monsters
automated base defenses
various domes within the base (power, biodome, research, etc.)
etc.
Area 51
all the zany alien stuff you’d expect to find in Area 51
It’d be neat to play in a sort of alt-universe version of Megaopolis. Say like the heroes go to a different dimension in the multiverse, and Megaopolis is a dirty, shady city run by crime lords.
Another neat thing would be another base like the Mars base, but have this one just be in the sky. A floating airforce base, perhaps.
I’d personally love to see a sky platform. Since I saw the Flying Smash card I thought that would be a great environment. Like a upper-atmosphere battle sort of thing, maybe it’s a falling satillite, or just an atomospheric platform. I think that’d be so cool.
AI, both helpful and rogue (perhaps enhanced by omnitron)
zero gravity - melee and projectile attacks also injure the attacker
pure oxygen - all healing increased by 1, fire attacks damage all hero cards
sucked into the vacuum - hero with fewest cards in play is unable to use powers or play cards, and is damaged an increasing amount every turn (1 then 2 then 3, etc). Other players can save them by destroying their own cards - initially needing to destroy a lot, decreasing every turn.
faulty filtration - heroes take toxic damage every turn (cancelled by pure oxygen and vice versa)
Yeah, and having Ra in a room of pure oxygen might cause a few problems… what with oxygen being flammable and all. Ra attacks; everyone dies instantly.
Pure oxygen really isn’t that flammable, what not having any fuel to combine the oxygen with. Though wouldn’t require that much fuel mixed with the oxygen to create a huge problem though.
I believe earths atmosphere has something in the 20% ball park and it doesn’t take a whole lot of extra to be toxic to humans (I think the 40% area will do it) also fires would be much easier to start with that mix, not just with fire but (in game terms) energy and lightning would too. Of course we are dealing with comic book physics here so…
