I like seals more.
I like seals more.
Thanks. I will disengage, and will try very hard not to respond in future.
So yeah. Those pesky abbreviations, huh?
Sentiment accepted. This has ceased to be a useful conversation on abbreviations. Please return to the topic at hand or cease activity here.
WTF?!?
Apologies. Sometimes I find it very difficult to just let things go past.
I'm working on it, honestly.
You know that old story about the Americans and the Russians needing a writing implement that would work in low/zero gravity in space? (It's an urban legend, apparently.) The Americans spent a lot of time and money doing research and created a special pen that worked upside down and in zero gravity. The Russians used a pencil.
The pencil here is a few more keystrokes and a little more effort.
I own a Zero Gravity pen that writes upside down, got it at the Science center.
Not that it has anything to do with that particular tale, but I like my fancy pen.
The old saying "you have to have money to make money" is often very meaningful. "Getting up off your arse" doesn't magically solve all your problems; no amount of effort will accomplish a futile task. But I wasn't advocating "sitting around waiting for the resourceful to hand out", so much as "getting together into a united front and FORCING the resourceful to hand out". Not a military solution, mind, but more like a massive act of passive resistance. I want to see millions of people stop scrabbling for scraps in our plutocratic society, and start making it not a plutocracy anymore. Refusing to work for pennies, refusing to sit quietly and tolerate government corruption and corporate takeover - I want to see something like the creation of unions to force concessions from management, but on a nationwide scale if not a global one.
The problem is when you apply that thinking in situations where you don't need to fight to get fair treatment.
It is also easy to fall into the trap of viewing yourself as powerless and others as powerful. Everyone can make a difference, in fact it is often the least powerful who make the greatest differences. The rich and powerful throw money at problems, but it is up to others to see that money = progress, not by yelling and campaigning, but by being the hands that do the work. One of the reasons we are in the boat we are in nationally is because we have become a nation of people willing to let those in power solve our problems for us
In this forums you have created (unwittingly or not) an impression that you want us all to do things your way, and don't really give a hoot about what anyone else wants. That may be a false impression but it exists. If that is not the impression you are trying to give, then you might want to start actively changing it..
There are only 5 things I dislike more than unnecessary abbreviations.
I agree that the Taco Tuesday problem is a serious issue plaguing our world that requires immediate attention. What should be the acronym we use to describe the group fighting for this glorious cause. Would Tacos everyday for all, or T.E.F.A suffice?
There's a great taco joint down the street from my work called Taco Tuesday. I can go there any day of the week.
CATTOBOT.
Citizens Against Taco Tuesday Only Being On Tuesdays.
Ronway is in SotM, so how Is that not a Ronway thing?
Send a memo to Christopher.
Unity is needed at once.
CATTOBOT must exist, card art must be drawn, the people must be saved.
Also perhaps a Freddie Mercury Bot, cause I'm with Ronway on that one as well.
Ronway Allies Fighting Taco Supressors
Edit: To toss in, Non-Ronway things is anything that doesn't get an imaginary Ronway seal of Approval on it. Which Sentinels of the Multiverse totally has.
Not just me, I want this for everyone, or at least everyone who wants it. Other than that, pretty much yes. To my way of thinking, life is an inconvenience compared to nonexistence, and inherently undesireable unless it is entirely spent enjoying ourselves. I take games with extreme seriousness, as you've probably noticed, because to me they are little short of a sacrament - every moment we live without being happily preoccupied, we would have been better off not existing, and thus games and similar entertainments justify our lives. I don't believe we need to earn happiness, I don't believe we have some higher purpose which is worth making sacrifices for, and I don't believe people have the right to succeed at other people's expense, even if the alternative is that nobody ever succeeds at all. I would be quite satisfied with the entire world agreeing to maintain a happy medium, with everyone just sort of basically content in a very small way. Injustices of any variety instantly distemper me, so I would single-handedly cure them if I possessed the power to, and lacking that power, I'd rather never hear of their existences. When I am the "victim" of them, the latter is obviously impossible, and so my only strategy to date has been to b***h at the top of my lungs about it, hoping someone else might be motivated to fix the problem for me, so I can go back to my comfortable little rut without further interruption.
Wow. Umm...
LOOK! KITTEN!

Is that your kitten, Meerkat?
Everyday is Taco Day.
As an aside, I'm actually a huge fan of the abbreviations. On that note though, I am personally willing to spell things out. Not really that big of an effort. Would a sticky post with a list/glossary of abbreviations be useful? :O
cute seal! cute kitty! want to stroke his belly now, awwww
(the kitty's, not the seal. I'm not a seal-belly scratchy person)
I wish that was my kitten...
