I'm a huge fan of SotM, ever since discovering it, it has rapidly climbed the ranks to sit as my second favourite board game right behind BSG. I've bought every physical release except villains, and have always had fun playing it with my friends.
However, recently the majority of my gaming group all moved, in most cases out of the country. As a result I can no longer play it in any way that isn't solitaire, which reduces the fun of it a little. I'm wondering if there is any way to play SoTM over the internet? I've found there is a Vassal module for it, but it's stripped down and doesn't include a lot of the most fun decks. The steam version appears to be single player only.
I really want to be able to keep playing this with my friends, and I really, really want to be able to keep playing in a way the devs are happy with.
Well the Video Game released by Handelabra introduced online multiplayer this month for all platforms. The update for iOS was delayed due to the apple review process but it's live on that one too.
As well as the Steam version you could also always just set up a chat with someone (voice or text, either would work) and play that way, with your deck set up on your computer desk (if you have space) or on a nearby table or something. And whichever of you is running the villain/environment can do that too, and everyone can post up what cards they currently have in play and the hp of various targets and stuff like that :). There used to be games run by forum members over the Google meet-ups thingy, but I don't know if that's still a thing.
When I moved away, my friend and I played over Skype. Sounds like it's similar to th Hangouts. We each just controlled the decks we were playing, and one person did environment and the other villain. That worked great.
