PAX Cosplay!

Hey guys,

So this year, my boyfriend and I are finally going to be cosplaying! We've wanted to for a couple years now but never found the time to do it.

Here are the characters we'll (hopefully) be cosplaying as:

Jubilee

Cyclops

Jayce (genderbender)

Vi (genderbender)

Setback

Expatriette

We've already got some ideas for the xmen and league of legends characters' wardrobe (trying not to buy too many clothes, although I did find a yellow trenchcoat and some oxford shoes).

Was wondering if you guys have any tips or ideas that could help us! Especially with constructing the league of legends weapons =P

My knowledge of League of Legends is basically "I've heard of it, and I think it's some kind of PvP game and therefore I'm not interested", but it's always interesting to see what people's Sentinels costumes look like, seeing as I'm actually familiar with those characters (well okay, I used to watch the X-Men cartoon when I was a kid and I've seen the first two films but that's about the extent of my knowledge there as well) :D.

If you don't follow Greg Bilsland (from Wizards of the Coast) or his wife on Twitter, do so and ask questions. I think she does most of the actual work, but I've seen parts of discussions about how they did certain things.

Thanks, will definitely do that

The majority of my knowledge of League of Legends is "Man, those guys were so loud, almost every volunteer in the PAX Australia GTG booth lost their voice"

As far as props go, many people use foam or hardened paper, so as to keep them light (you don't want to be carrying something heavy around all con)

Also, http://cosplaying-on-a-budget.tumblr.com/ is where a lot of people submit instructions on how to make various costumes and props.

haven't started on the costumes due to not having access to a sewing machine… we should work on that…

BUT

we have started on weapon designs. here's where I'm at with Expat's Pride and Prejudice! (plus the subsequent mess =P)

That's exciting! I just watched a video the other day about how you could turn those into aluminum casts with a bucket of sand and a crucible.

Oh yeah we saw that video too! It’d be awesome to do that, maybe next year :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m hoping to get more detail into the guns after sealing and covering with putty or bondo

heyyyyyyyyyy, this is for Adam or possibly anyone else at GtG that knows what Expatriette and Setback look like in broken city.

we were just wondering what the back of expat and setback look like. is it pretty much mirror to the front (like the yellow/white doesn't wrap around the entire back area, just the obliques) or not?

it'd be a shame if our cosplay turned out to be quite different from what they're supposed to look like =D

They are mirrored, yes, so just the obliques. For an example, this is what I put together for the miniature. And Expatriette's is the same (can be seen on Devastating Aurora).

Those are some buig feet, hope Expat has steel-toed dancing shoes.

Thanks Adam!

I wonder is Pinion like that too? I plan on trying to cosplay as her for GenCon.
