[Tachyon: Yellow 20/27]
”NowThatI’veGottenYourAttetionLetsEndThisQuickly” Tachyon speeds around the demons at supersonic speeds. Tachyon hits all demons outside using Sonic Vortex (Speed: 10 Finesse: 7 Status: 5). With this speedy attack all demons outside the house are taken out one with an attack of 10 and the rest for 7 if it matters. Tachyon heads to the crate outside the Jet for a quick snack “WhewI’mHungry”
[Remaining for Round Two: Bunker, Legacy, Absolute Zero]
One demon remains in the house gnawing on Milk Bot.
"Please try some of my milk! It's highly fortified!"
Milk-bot shrugs off the attack (save: 5) and throws one of its bottles at the remaining demon. It strikes it squarely in the face, shattering and covering the monster in a flaming liquid (attack: 3, save: 1). The demon shrieks and boils away almost instantly, leaving only a smoldering smudge.
Unity dashes into the house and quickly stomps the fire out. "Ew."
(Holding the rest of my action until it's evident what else needs to be done right now.)
[Scene over owing to overcompensating heroes]
One of the ice walls cracks, purple energy flaring around it before it shatters, hurling blocks of ice across the hallway to spatter the other blocks of ice. The Visionary walks out, a little shaky on her feet, wiping sweat off her brow, small rips evident in her costume. Behind her a black and mauve light swirls.
"Things are...stable. For now. Thank you for the assistance. The family here will continue sleeping for a few more hours. If they can wake up without thinking they've left the freezer open for a few years, that would be nice. And we can discuss what brought us all here."
[Moving to montage scene of clearing up and asking questions.]
(Entering out of suit mode, weilding the Riot Cannon)
[Armor Plating +1 reduces attacks down to 2 and 3. Current HP= 28-5= 23]
Vance steps out of his currently Maintinace Mode armorarmor, carefully detatching the overheated Riot Cannon. "I think I may have a solution to both our problems, Vanessa." Walking inside the home, he presses one of the sides of the large gun to a chunk of ice, steam filling the hall. "With any luck I should have most of this melted away in a few minutes." As he speaks the chunk of ice melts down to just a puddle.
"So, want to fill us in on why we were fighting void beasts?"
“Greetings, ma’am,” milk-bot interrupts, addressing the Visionary. “May I offer you some milk? My milk is deliciourrrk—~~*”
“Sorry,” Unity says as she disassembles the bot mid-speech. She reassembles its parts to form funnels and troughs to channel the water from the melting ice walls safely outside.
"Because they were pouring into our dimensiom from the Void faster than I could deal with them. I've been managing for the last, what day is it today?"
"Thank you, Devra. I wouldn't want the carpet damaged by mold."
"Umm, today is the.. 6th. The 6th. Anyway, I'm glad we could help, Visionary. Do we know what's causing the monsters to pour out?"
"So, three days. Not as long as I thought. Anyway, yes, the latent psychic energies from the Dreamer event appear to have opened a connection to the Void from this house, my old house, well, this world's Vanessa Long's old house. That can happen, rarely, but it happens. I hoped it would resolve itself but something on the other side kept that from happeneing. And then the demons came to make things even more difficult. Now that you've defeated the mfor now, I can stabilise the portal for now but whatever's causing it to stay open won't let me close it."
"So what you're saying, unless I'm mistaken, is that more of those things will keep appearing in this house until whatever's on the otherside of the portal is dealt with?" Billows of steam flow out the open door, the funnels and troughs proving to be quite useful transporting out all the extra water.
"That...seems likely. I don't know what we've drawn the attenton of, but it should be fairly obvious once you get there. The Void is...strange. Journeying there, even for a short time, would be dangerous. Confusing. I can keep the portal stable...for a while. But if you get stuck there, it could be a...while before you can be rescued.
"I understand. Thank you." With his trademark grin, Legacy calls out "Team, who's ready to go exploring?"
Unity raises her hand. "I'm sorry, I must have missed the lesson on the Void. How do we get around in there? Is there ground to walk on? Do we need space suits? Can we breathe? Should we take the jet, or, like, build a submarine or something? And what kind of "dangerous" are we talking about here? Other than purple mutant reptile things, I mean."
"Is there ground? If you want there to be hard enough. The Void is a chaotic mix of masgic, psychic energy and elemental energy, like someone ran the baby of Dali and the Realm of Discord through a blender, but a strong mind can influence how it forms itself around you. So I would expect you to be able to make sure there is ground to walk on and air to breathe, but don't forget the mind you are seeking is powerful enough to send things from the Void into this world so expect a few challenges. However, not everythng in the Void is a direct threat, some are just energies seeking outsiders. Sadly, I can't accompany you. I'm drained and someone needs to stay behind to serve as your anchor and keep the portal open if you succeed and make sure it shuts if you don't. I may be able to help guide you to your target, but once there, it will be up to your efforts to prevent its incursion intou our world."
“Well I guess we head into the unknown again” Tachyon says as she finishes some snacks she had brought along “I wonder if Unity and ai could build something it track this entity so we don’t spend too much time there”.
"I've got just one last question," says Vance, reloading the Riot Cannon onto the Bunker suit.
"Where IS the portal? I may have some trouble getting through the front door if it's inside the house..."
The Visionary sighs wearily. "Well, looks like the mountain must come to Mohammad. I'll do my best to move the portal to the back yard. You all need to get ready. And let me concentrate. Try not to think too loudly." she walks back into the room with the purple light.
Shortly, the air in the back yard ripples, ugly purple lightning crawling around a bruise coloured shimmer in the air. The Visionary sits crosslegged above the grass, sweat beading on her forehead, her skin pale with exhaustion as the shimmer swirls, darkens and finally spirals apart into a dark purple hole, a pathway of crumbling black stone under a violet sky behind it. "There. Hurry."
With a metalic CLANK! the hatch closes, and Vance is back at his controls.
"Ready when you all are."
