I have such mixed feelings about this! I see the bravery and good will that this guy has shown (and it sounds like he’s actually really helped some folks), but at the same time, I live in a democratic society with a social contract and this guy is clearly not living up to his end of that contract (neither are the guys whose fight he broke up, but two wrongs=/=a right and all…).
Not to mention there apparently wasn’t a fight in this latest incident… The disappointing part of this is that now it’ll be very hard for him to go on superheroing, since his real name has been released.
It seems like the police are often misquoted regarding these guys, and that there’s a great deal of irritation on the part of the Seattle Police Department. Not to mention there’s at least one of these: www.facebook.com/public/Obsidian-Revenant How many more “villains” do you think are as a result of this costumed vigilantism?
Edit: Not sure if that link worked right, I can’t view facebook at work.
That one wasn’t quite right; here’s the real one: www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001941033390
And I doubt these “villains” really amount to much. The “heroes” themselves don’t make as much of an impact as comics would have you believe, and I bet the villains have even less influence.
