I played my first multiple legacy game this weekend with Young Legacy and Greatest Legacy. I realized quickly that there was a problem. Multiple legacies mean 2 decks competing to play limited cards. Is there an official ruling on if two different decks can have a limited card in play? For example both legacies having inspiring presence in play at the same time? I said no because I didn't think it would be right to have 2 rings in play at the same time, but some of the other cards it could make sense for. What do other groups do to handle this?
I could be wrong, but I thought the ruling was that only 1 limited card could be in play at once, not 1 per hero.
Well technically any multi-Legacy game is breaking the rules, but I believe Paul made a comment that having only one of each Limited card in play period was the "least incorrect" way to play. Note that certain ongoing cards (like Fortitude) will apply to ALL Legacy characters, not just the Legacy who played that particular card, so it generally ends up being more powerful rather than less.
It's wonky, but I guess it's the result of having alt heroes that are actually separate people.
Whether its correct or not, its surely more fun if you let each character play their own copies. If there was some kind of official tournament going on I might be concerned, but playing at home, I'm letting everyone play cards.
That can make the game a bit easy when you start having some of Legacy's Limited buffs show up three times and stack.
I ended up making my own decks for Young Legacy and Greatest Legacy, after one too many arguments about the whole Limited card issue, and things that refer to "Legacy" applying to all three.
Besides, It doesn't make any sense for all three Legacy characters to use the same cards! Greatest Legacy didn't have bulletproof skin, and young Legacy doesn't have the wealth of experience her pop brought to the table.
Sure that makes sense. Maybe I should clarify how I have done it in the past. When we play anytime the card refers to Legacy it is assumed to mean the one specific Legacy whose deck it belongs to. Anything that refers to other heros can still be used for the other Legacy's.
