My German IS a little rusty, but if I'm not mistaken, the e at the end wouldn't be silent.  The oe is a stand-in for ö, which isn't QUITE pronounced like "er," but that's a good approximation for native English speakers.  To actually get the right sound, you need to purse your lips like you're going to make an "oo" sound, but then make an "oh" sound through that pursing.  The -le at the end would be "luh."
