Promo alt hero cards availability

Hi. I picked up the oversized villain cards recently and was pleased to see the alternate versions of baron and omni included. These bring welcome variety to the decks.

Im curious to know if there are any plans to do a wider print run of the alternate hero cards? Some of these look really interesting.

Spiff's very awesome life counters do offer an opportunity to trial them but the collector in me would love to get hold of the real thing.

I guess what I'm saying is , dear GTG... would you like to take some more of my money?

The current plan is, I believe, for >G to at some point release a set of all the hero promos, but with different art so as to distinguish from the limited run ones. So they'll take your money, but not just yet :)

They are printable from here but if you want something more official there has been talk of an eventual re-release of all of them but I doubt that will happen til all the expansions are out. Otherwise you can trade with people and spend Sentinels Points that you get at convensions >G attends to grab the already printed cards.

So far I've got the older promo heroes (Young Legacy, Horus Ra, Redeemer Fanatic, Rook City Wraith) in the form of some scrawle writing on a piece f rough paper. It'd be nice to actually get hold of their cards some day, though.

This is what I heard as well. Which makes me a little sad because that Redeemer Fanatic artwork is VERY nice. Like, in-my-randomly-shuffled-backgrounds-folder-nice. I'm sure the new art will be excellent as well, though.

Thanks. Guess I'll sit tight for that then. Sadly I'm in merry old England and Essen is a bit of a stretch with a wife and baby to feed. (One day, my son!)

My kingdom for a games con in London!

Yeah, I'll add my kingdom to that. Two kingdoms for a games con in London!

Nine Worlds is a general geek con staring this year in August and will feature a board games strand. Just saying.

Perhaps you can organize one.

ooh news to me! The good kind…

It has been tried and aborted a few times now. As you can easily get to a game club on pretty much every night of the week in London there hasn't been any drive to create large scale gaming without the attraction of support from publishers, designers, and retailers. The problem is that publishers, even small ones, have a lack of interest in attending as they prefer to focus on the games expo in Brimingham, or to put their investment into Essen and Nuremburg. Large events usually locate to the midlands due to lower costs and a larger draw due to the central location being more convenient for the bulk of the population than coming into London.

There is however a tabletop presence in some larger scale London based events such as Nine Worlds, which looks to be a more general fantasy con, Game Camp which is focused on game design, or Dragonmeet for roleplaying. Nine Worlds is probably the best chance to sow the seeds for a true London games con and it will be very interesting to see how this develops. At the same time there are smaller 'local' events going on like Wallycon, LoBsterCon, the Epsom weekend events, Tringcon, and so on. I wouldn't be surprised if there are many more that I have not yet heard of! I once made an attempt to tie Wallycon together with LoB to create a bigger event but it didn't get very far, largely for the reasons mentioned above.

All I can suggest for gamers who want to see a London based games con is to support Nine Worlds if you can afford it, or if not then to get involved in some of the many weekend and occasional events that are going on. Maybe we can start to network these events together a bit more to grow something bigger. Maybe a Kickstarter project somewhere down the line if the cost of venue hire (which, in London, is truly extortionate) needs to be de-risked by getting people to buy tickets up front.

I would imagine the Alternate Hero Collection thingy would just have a marking or text somewhere on it that makes note that it isn't a first edition, but a reprint. Crafting completely new art would just make them collector pieces again.
