My spouse and I are on the brink of taking up arms in the struggle to decide how to pronounce "Omnitron-X". A final declaration of validity is the only thing that can save my marriage. Please, help us, before it's too late.
Without word from the men on high, both are equally valid pronunciations. The letter in the name is an X, but he is also the tenth iteration which in Roman numerals is represented by X. Use whichever one you feel sounds better.
Technically, Omnitron-Ten is more accurate, since he is definitely the tenth iteration, so that's what the X in the name means. However, pronouncing it as Ecks (not Sever) is my preference as well, in part because it reminds me of MegaMan X (who is named simply "X" in-setting), whom Omnitron-X would probably be flattered by the comparison to. Plus I think letter X just sounds cooler. I often abbreviate the name as Omnix though.
I call him X. Omnitron-Ten just sounds crappy.
First off, was it really necessary to make this topic FOUR TIMES?
Second, I usually call him Amnitran or Omnitronks, but officially I'd call him Omnitron 10.
I think the double posting was a mistake. I made a double post in another thread when I only pressed the save button once.
For what it is worth, when we are discussing that hero around the office, we pronounce it "Omnitron Ecks".
Does anyone else in the British contingent think Omnitron "Ecks" should be wearing a flat cap when his name is pronounced that way?
I call him Omni-10, because the X is a ten and I can't be arsed with that extra syllable in the middle ;).
Ecky thump, indeed.
Apologies for submitting this....four times, apparently.
I'm claiming vindication for Team Ecks. Woo!
We had a discussion about the fact that he's "Omnitron Ten", then all went back to calling him "Omnitron Ecks". Or just "Omnitron", if we're not fighting his villain counterpart.
Ecks here too. Om-nee-ecks just flows better than Om-nee-ten.
"oh-eks" for me - primarily because I'm lazy.
As we so rarely play Omnitron as a villain, there are folks who will just refer to the hero on occasion as Omnitron. Has caused confusion on occasion, but not too often…
Bah! If you were truly lazy, you would call him "ocks"…
I did.
Once.
The look Christopher gave me still causes my hair to stand on end.
And I don't have any hair.
Seriously, though, I did call him that for a short period, but when I mentioned it to Christopher, he really didn't like it. ("The look" I referenced above? Not a joke. That man knows how to emote!)
Since I want to respect the >G folks and their creations, I won't go that far with my laziness.
*sinister grin*
*chills*

I just think calling him "Omnitron-Ten" is better, because you know he'd refer to himself like that, being a robotic intelligence and all.
Well, he should be pronounced Omnitron Decem. (hard c)
