questions and clarifications.

I’ve been playing a couple games on my own so I’m clear on mechanics before taking it to my group and their inevitable pedanticism.

Haka - Rampage - deal 5 damage to non hero targets and 2 damage to hero targets. Does haka damage himself? Following the text, he does, but is his rampage really so beserk that he punches himself in the face twice?

Megalopolis - Impending casualty - the text states that it can be removed by only one player discarding only one card at the end of the environment turn. This means it can be removed instantly, right? So the only time it’s a threat is when it is brought out by Targeting Innocents?

Megalopolis + Voss - Police backup - the text says to destroy it when a villain card forces anyone to discard. The glossary defines this as losing cards from your hand, specifically different to destroying cards. Playing against Voss, there are no cards that force a discard. Is that right? The police stay out forever? (or until rooftop combat)

Voss - Field lieutenant tamar - reduces damage to minions and thorathians. Does Voss count? And if so, all the time, or just when he’s on super thorathian warlord?

Insula primalis - Enraged t rex - is itself considered when working out 2nd highest HP? What about if the t rex has the 2nd highest? Does it bite itself? I’m not confident a t rex could bend far enough to do that…

Fanatic - Aegis of resurrection - if fanatic’s HP is 1, and she takes 3 damage. Is her HP now 10 or 8?

Absolute zero - Cryo chamber - is it affected by itself? - when absolute zero uses the power, does he deal himself 4 or 5 fire? Is the passive effect lost before or after the damage is done? I’d presume he takes 5, as the alternative seems unnecessarily complex.

Absolute zero - Hoarfire - must the two attacks be against 2 separate targets? Can he Target himself with the fire portion? Every other self-attack specifically states that he attacks himself.

Haka - Rampage - deal 5 damage to non hero targets and 2 damage to hero targets. Does haka damage himself? Following the text, he does, but is his rampage really so beserk that he punches himself in the face twice?

Yes, Haka is a hero target.

Megalopolis - Impending casualty - the text states that it can be removed by only one player discarding only one card at the end of the environment turn. This means it can be removed instantly, right? So the only time it’s a threat is when it is brought out by Targeting Innocents?

Yes it can be discarded right away. But it still forces heroes to discard cards.

Megalopolis + Voss - Police backup - the text says to destroy it when a villain card forces anyone to discard.

Yes, the police stay out forever, but so long as there is at least 1 minion in play, they can’t actually do anything to Voss.

Voss - Field lieutenant tamar - reduces damage to minions and thorathians. Does Voss count? And if so, all the time, or just when he’s on super thorathian warlord?

Voss is a Thortian, it says so on his card. He always benifits from Tamar.

Insula primalis - Enraged t rex - is itself considered when working out 2nd highest HP? What about if the t rex has the 2nd highest? Does it bite itself?

No it does not harm itself. This has been Eratta’d. As to whether or not it counts when determinining who has the second highest HP… errr… I think so. This is the only one I’m not sure about.

Fanatic - Aegis of resurrection - if fanatic’s HP is 1, and she takes 3 damage. Is her HP now 10 or 8?

She would have 10 hp. The knockout blow brings her down to -2 (uncoscious), and then she ressurects at 10 hp.

Absolute zero - Cryo chamber - is it affected by itself?

No, to use the power on Cryo Chamber you must first destroy the card. Once the card is destroyed its benifits are no longer in play.

Absolute zero - Hoarfire - must the two attacks be against 2 separate targets? Can he Target himself with the fire portion? Every other self-attack specifically states that he attacks himself.

Yes, the two attacks must be against seperate targets. Zero has HP, so he is a target. He can target himself with either the fire portion, or the cold portion as it is prudent to do so (perhaps because of Null Point calibration unit). Incidentally, every other attack that could be used to attack himself is NOT explicitly stated, it is only explicitly stated when he is FORCED to attack himself. Zero could be a target for Frost-bound Drain, coolant blast, or Thermal Shockwave as well. He can also be the target of other heroes. The use of Visionary’s Twisting the Ether can be used to change hero damage to cold or fire and attack Zero with it, dealing additional damage or healing zero depending on whether fire or cold is chosen (assuming you have the right equipment out of course). Tempest’s Elemental Subwave Inducer can be used for a similar effect.

The new text for the card, from http://greaterthangames.info/forum/index.php/topic,28.0.html is:

At the end of the Environment turn, this card deals the target other than itself with the second highest HP 5 melee damage.

I read this as the t rex not only not doing damage to itself, but also not counting for determining which target has the second highest HP.

[quote]Absolute zero - Cryo chamber - is it affected by itself?

No, to use the power on Cryo Chamber you must first destroy the card. Once the card is destroyed its benifits are no longer in play.

awp beat me to the punch with lots of great answers. On this one, though, I disagree. Text is usually followed in order, so first AZ deals himself 5 fire damage, then the card is destroyed.

Actually, Absolute Zero cannot target himself with Coolant Blast. That card specifies a non-hero target. As Absolute Zero is a hero target, he is ineligible for a Coolant Blast attack. And now I understand Tamar’s “obsession” with the Thorathian rank. (Voss was not included in my setup when I split the game (and the cost) with my brother).
