I love this game, however just as I went to fill my cart with the two promo decks I saw that you are out of Ambuscade. Oh no! Any idea of roughly how long until you have more for order?
We're talking to the printer about that now. It looks like it'll be a couple months most likely. Of course you could just get them through our Kickstarter...
That's a weird, subtle way to announce this. :P
So, it looks like Omnitron's nemesis is a robot. Or yet another hero in a super-suit, but with very thin arms. Or a maker of robots. But personally, I'm hoping for a robot.
If only you knew, heheheh.
All of your teasing makes me want to purposely use End of Days or Oblivion on you should we ever play together.
Or.....you could just pledge to become a playtester, and you'd know too :)
I was honestly shocked when they revealed that this character was actually related to Omnitron. I had dismissed that theory altogether at first!
When did they reveal that?
I don't think it's been officially revealed. It's a theory that's been kicked around the forums here, a guess which is looking better and better as time goes on.
Wow, cool, new Kickstarter! I missed the first one due to not having yet heard of the game when it ran :(. But wow, when did this new one start? 'Cause it's met its goal already!
I'll have a look now and see about contributing…and maybe getting my hands on Unity and Ambuscade :).
Edit - Eek, never mind…over 20 quid just for shipping? Ouch. Sorry, guys :(. Looks like I'll have to skip the Kickstarter and wait till this stuff hits the UK :(.
Well, it wasn't officially stated that the hero relates to Omnitron, but come on, look at that guy's chest. It's clearly Omnitron's nemesis symbol. I never thought Omnitron's nemesis was actually going to be another robot.
Made perfect sense for me. I mean, I read superhero comics (one reason why I enjoy this game so much). And alternate realities make sense to me. Villians are heroes, heroes are villains, Big ultimate robot champions are now simply remade to be helper bots. I imagine it like this:
The scientist/company that made omnitron took more concern in building an assistant bot, and bam. There he is. Smaller, weaker, freidnlier.
That would be tachyon.
And Tachyon just happens to have an "apprentice" that can disassemble and recreate robots with the power of her mind.
Hei Chris, how come ambuscade is being reprinted while the other promos are not? It is just curiosity, but since many times you have stated that promo cards are available until you run out…
While I am not Christopher, I believe I can elucidate this matter. While Ambuscade and Unity have regularly been referred to as promo decks by the fans, with a cursory search I cannot find any instance of anyone from GtG calling them such. In the current Kickstarter, for instance, they're being referred to as "mini expansions". As they are not promos, they can be reprinted to GtG's hearts' content.
Greonhal is correct. While the promo character cards are limited-run, the mini-expansions are not. While they are given away free as stretch rewards to our Kickstarter backers, they are fairly major game content that we don't want to limit only to people who know about / back us when we run a Kickstarter campaign.
Also, as I mentioned in yesterday afternoon's Kickstarter update, we are likely to reprint an "unlimitied edition" run of all of the promo cards in several years so that people who want access to those characters can get them. The cards will have the same powers / game effect as the original promo cards, but will be visually distinct. The main reason that we are waiting is that we want to get all of the promo cards that we ever make into that pack, so we have to wait until Sentinels of the Multiverse is complete as a game, which won't be for a couple of years. The secondary reason though is that it rewards our early-adopter fans by giving them some minor game content that others won't have access to for a couple of years.
Oh, but others WILL gain access to them eventually. That's nice. Before I helped with the IR kickstarter, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get Young Legacy and Rook City Wraith. Of course I have them now, but others may not have been so lucky.
Hmm... unlimited runs, will they be white border? It always striked me as odd that black border cards were more coveted than white border cards, as I always though white border cards looked better. Of course, if you are going to print the same card in two different ways, of which one type is for a fixed number of prints, and the other type will be for an undetermined amount for an indefinate amount of time, the latter type will typically have more prints, and having white spots on cards require no ink, thus are cheaper to produce (if only slightly, and likely only for the printer), thus making white borders cheaper for the larger print run.
