She is so cute! And your dinosaurs! And your bunny!
Soo want to see a Freedom Five like this, even though I know that's a lot of work for you.
Well done!

Thank you guys, Tiny Visionary appreciates the compliments. :) I'm glad you like her! It's nice to be able to combine two of my hobbies. ;)
Oh, and I'll definitely have a go at Mr Chomps when Unity's done, at some point. Dinosaur shapes are harder to design though (I got the patterns for them from a great site called Planet June which has awesome realistic animals if you're into crochet), but I like a challenge!
Freedom 5? Which one would you like to see first? (Not Bunker though please, he'll need a completely different pattern so I'd prefer a "basic shape" hero before I tackle that).
After using Next Evolution, Legacy looks down and sees his body has been crocheted, and says, "Well, that's different."
Folks here know I love Zero, but wouldn't Wraith have a similar pattern to Visionary?
Yeah, Wraith would take the basic girl shape.
Zere's not too complicated, but the positioning of the head would be the tricky bit, with it sitting kind of "low". I can't quite see how Ryan fits in there!
Well, he's probably a bit sort of...shrivelled from the cold or something ;).
I always assumed he was a smaller guy, and that everything behind the head, bulked up behind the shoulders, etc. was actually where all the equipment that ran the suit was sitting. I imagined his shoulders are actually right where you would expect given where his neck comes out of the suit, farther down than where it looks like they should be. I assumed his arms sit low and forward in the armor's arms, allowing a great deal of space for the controls, mechanical aspects, etc. to go above and behind his arms, down to the hands.
Just my interpretation, though.
According to the website, he's 5'7 which is... not much taller than me, actually. He's the same height as Wraith, and tied for shortest in the FV. So no, not a big guy at all, really.
ALL THE CUTENESS! Adorbs.
5'7"? Only an inch taller than me!
I reckon with AZ I'll keep him fairly simple and close to the standard male shape (which I haven't designed yet), but add more bulk to the shoulder area. Should be easier than Bunker, anyway!
Oh and Tiny Visionary now has a friend... but you'll have to wait until tomorrow to see him/her. Too dark for pics right now.
Good, Visionary would be lonely without a friend to manipulate and control.
Apologies for the delay, but here's Tiny Unity. Various bits of her took a while to get right, especially the googles - I made the lenses from shrink plastic but had to experiment some to figure out how to do the frames.

The colours are brighter in real life - probably should have messed with the levels in Photoshop or something.

The goggles. Worth the effort I think, Unity's not Unity without them.

Tiny Unity raids my studio and collects up some of my jewellery-making supplies and tools. Wonder what she's going to make?

Well of course, a Tiny Raptor Bot! Hi Mr. Chomps!

He's about 3.5 inches nose-to-tail, and unlike my Raptor Bot prototype he stands on his own. I've been challenged to make a Bee Bot to the same scale which should be, um, interesting...

Tiny Unity considers a new bot design. The ladybird's actually life-sized, which of course makes it pretty big to Tiny Unity! Luckily it's friendly.
Next? Absolute Zero.
Cuteness levels... almost too high to handle.
Dear Lord, I would pay so much to have one of these. SO MUCH ADORABLENESS
This is really, really fantastic.
This might be asking too much, but once you're done making Sentinels characters, you should try to make the freedom bots.
OMFG MR CHOMPS AAAAWW :D :D :D.
Very nicely done. These are fantastic.
How much time do these take to make?
Also are all the parts of unity attached? That little satchel is the best.
You're too kind guys!
I've been asked about this before, but I'm not sure it'd work. The "basic human" shape is pretty simple so I'm relying on using the correct colours and accessories to make the characters recognisable. Using silver/grey only, I don't think I'd get the details well enough for Champion Bot to be obviously Legacy, or Swift Bot to be obviously Wraith. I'll certainly attempt this but not feeling terribly confident.
Let's see… Raptor Bot probably took 4-5 hours. That's including remaking his head several times to get it just right, and all the assembly and embroidery. The crocheting itself didn't take very long. The prototype probably took 6 hours. A second bot I'd guess I could get done now in 3-4 hours.
I didn't keep track of Unity and Visionary, but it wouldn't have been a good indication of the "typical" time if I had. Unity has a lot of fiddly bits and I created the basic design as I made her, and Visionary has some time-consuming colour changes so both took a lot longer than I'd expect a more standard character to take. I'll take note of how long AZ's creation process is.
Everything's attached to Unity except the satchel. The shirt round her waist probably would slip off eventually if I hadn't sewed it on, and the bandanna wouldn't stay put at all. Besides, the fixed bandanna meant that I had to attach less hair, and hair takes AGES.
Absolute Zero (done today, pics tomorrow) took 6 hours of TV-watching. And he's pretty uncomplicated.
Wow, making all of the heroes is going to take a long time!
