So would you shuffle both his picture card and his text card into the deck, or just one of them (and put the other card to one side for the time being)?
Very good question, since they are both character cards, but only one is a target, and that is the one being destroyed.
I would wager only the picture card gets shuffled in.
The question is what happens if he gets played. It isn't the "Start of the game" so none of that text would apply, I would guess he would go on the side the text card was on, and you would just have to knock his HP down again.
Seems like shuffling in the oversized card I use would be a bit tough.
Since they are reprinting Rook City and fixing some typos and clearing up some things, maybe The Chairman will also get a change telling us what to do with his card.
I'd say the best way to solve this, change the text on The Operative. Remove "The heroes cannot win the game." Replace with "The Chairman is indestructible."
If the Chairman is indestructible, that means if you take him down before the Operative, his text is still active giving all of his thugs and operatives bonuses. You would need to add another line specifying that his text is blank or something like that.
Actually, that was my intent.
That's an interesting idea but then the Chairman would retaliate against e.g. Squall long after he was "dead"
Also, the Chairman is hard enough without the boosts to this thugs essentially becomming permanent once he flips.
That's exactly how we played it the other night. We had no idea what to do with him since the Operative was still alive, so we just said he's reduced to 0 HP and remains in play (along with all his effects). The card that heals the Chairman and the Operative happened to come up as well, so we had to heal her by 6 and heal the Chairman from 0 HP to 6 HP (again, because we were unsure what else to do).
It actually made the game pretty challenging; I liked it.
