So I read the ruling on damage increases, but found an iffy situation.
Haka of Battle increases the next damage dealt by Haka by 1 for blah blah blah. When used with Rampage (in the game we played the guy playing Haka waited), does he deal each non-hero target 5 + the extra damage and each hero target 2 + the extra damage, or does he deal the first non-hero target 5 + the extra damage, every other non-hero target 5 damage and each hero 2 damage? Basically, does that limited increased damage apply to the whole card, or the first instance of damage being dealt?
Did this question really get answered? The damage effect in question is ambiguous because it triggers two effects and both of those effects are simultaneous damage to multiple targets, so I would expect the answer to differentiate it.
So far it seems clear that the ‘next damage’ ability applies only to the non-hero damage, but does the bonus apply to just the first non-hero target, or does it apply to all non-hero targets which take damage from this single damage ability? I think most folks would expect that if Haka meditated to be a better fighter, when he went on a rampage that it wouldn’t just be the first dude he hit that was impacted by that.
It also goes to the whole question of how the damage calculation and application process works. You folks have done a great job of keeping the rules simple, but with the number of interactions which occur in a game like this and us nit-pickers tearing it all up, the rules start to get a bit complicated in order to be specific enough to handle these problems. Just imagine what happens as you continue to carve into new design space and create even more interactions!
According to the rules, no attacks are truly simultanious. If something affects two or more targets at the same time, they are processed one at a time based on the players’ discretion. In this case, the first non-Hero would have the bonus applied, but no more, as it was only to be applied to the next damage, and the second target would not get the effect.
