So... Uh... THAT Just Happened... >.>

I just finished a game with my SO where the two of us were playing a four hero team. We randomly selected the set up, ending up with me playing Bunker and Visionary while he played Mr. Fixer and the Wraith. We faced down Omnitron (Advanced) in Insula Primalis.

For most of the game, it went exactly like you would expect from those heroes v. Omnitron. We were in a bit of trouble. Technological Singularity was hitting everybody (except Visionary) hard, and we were all struggling to recover after every devestating blow. Fixer got some incredible hits out early (smacking down Omnitron and a Grenade for 8 each) and threw down some Grease Guns to keep us alive just that little bit longer. It got down to everyone in single digits except the Visionary, who was sitting at 17 in a Telekinetic Cocoon to soak all damage going to the Highest (or t-rexes).

Another Technological Singularity knocked out the Wraith and leaving Bunker at 7 and Fixer at 4, with no one having any cards on the table except Visionary's Cocoon. We both swore as a volcanic erruption hit the table. And then we realized, to our horror, that there was an untouched Explosive on the table that we somehow failed to notice, blowing Bunker and Fixer to hell and leaving Visionary alone on the table, desperately meditating in her Telekinetic Cocoon. We were about to call it until I realized that... we could win this. If we could avoid getting a Terraforming, or a Sedative Flechettes before the eruption killed him... We could be okay.

Of course, a turn later, a Terraforming was played. But we decided to see it through regardless. In the beginning, Bunker built up a sizable defense for the inevitable Sedative Flechettes that would blast through her Cocoon and leave her tasty for the army of drones that were crowding around her. Fixer destroyed Adaptive Plating Subroutines when they popped up and let Visionary draw when they didn't. Wraith healed Visionary back up to full, slowly but surely.

And then I drew another Telekinetic Cocoon and the game changed. I played Wrest the Mind on a brand new explosive while Wraith allowed me to go re-enter my bubble. Then every turn there was a cycle of Bunker letting me pick up a Telekinetic Cocoon from the trash while I would play something like Mind Spike or Demorilization or something else that accelerated the damage output, while Wraith allowed Visionary to re-enter her Cocoon every turn. Meanwhile, a small army of raptors and t-rexes has arrived and were feasting on tastey tastey bots.

At the end of the game, Omnitron and his last Assault Drone were raptor food, and Visionary stared down at the bodies of teammates while they all gave her thumbs up.

Totally. Freaking. Awesome.

This is but one part of why I say Visionary is super good.  Good game!

One of the best parts of the game is that if your character dies, the incapacitated abilities allow you to still be a part of the action and really add to the feel of being a team (plus the whole trope of the good guys getting stronger only after their comrads have fallen).

Also, Visionary is awesome.
