taste of the expansion

So I got to playtest part of the next expansion with Christopher today. I was asked not to give specific details, but allowed to drop little bits and pieces in order to “make everyone jealous”.

The only thing we played with that was from the expansion was one of the new villans, everything else was base game…

and the villan was… Plague Rat, a mutated rat-man drug dealer supervillan.

His basic thing is he gives heroes the rat plague, and he flips when all heros have the rat plague (flipping back if someone gets rid of rat plague). By itself, rat plague isn’t too bad, but he’s got a lot of ongoing cards that buff himself or do things with the rat plague, and no minions, at all. His deck is nearly all 1-shots and ongoings.

Ultimately what I played against will probably be quite different to the villan that comes out when the expansion is released, but pretty cool!

VERY interesting. Can’t wait to hear more!

Interesting. It’s so cool how the different decks use different mechanics. I was telling someone yesterday how, if the game were computerized, you could use a time reversal mechanic that rolled back turns or even rounds.

So… you guys are already play testing the new expansion, yet you don’t even have the villain bios finished?

Different departments (people) handle different aspects of the process. The person who handles the mechanics and character concepts is a different person than the one who’s handling the long bios. And the person who’s doing that writing may or may not also be building a patio by himself, too. coughs
