That got me thinking; It sounds like it could be a viable strategy to Cocoon Visionary at soon as possible, get Nightmist down and mist her, and between them absorb all the highest/lowest target damage, nullifying a great deal of many villains' damage output.
Has anyone tried this? Is there anyone this would be particularly strong/weak against?
I believe the majority of damage in the Chairman’s deck is highest/lowest. Only the Hired Guns and that one card that hits highest and second highest aren’t, along with the flipped Chairman’s retaliation damage.
It's doable, but boring for whoever is playing Nightmist and Visionary (though Nightmist could come out swinging once she has her deck in her hand). Plus it'd fall apart if the villain has sudden ongoing destruction.
Does basically nothing against deadline. Without constant ongoing destruction he’ll be doing 3+ damage to the whole team every turn practically. And meanwhile you’re down two characters.
Against Progeny it is almost a guaranteed win, and you only need either of them (not both). Take one down low enough and turn on god mode. Progeny flips and obsessively wails an invincible wall.
Works better with Skyscraper though, as her incap side on Huge seems almost tailored for Progeny.
As others have pointed out, player selected for god mode duty will be bored as hell. Not something you generally sign up for when playing Nightmist!
It's hard to keep an entire party safe against Infinitor, but on the other hand his self damage and inability to destroy ongoings means that Nightmist or Visionary can turtle their way to victory even if the rest of the team is destroyed along the way. Some environments might give you trouble, though.
It's pretty decent against Apostate. He and Condemnation target the highest on his front side, and so by extention this strategy mitigates the Gauntlets and the Peri... the 4 HP relic. His demon which does damage also targets the highest. One of his one-shots targets the highest as well. I had to leave a game during the second round once, to take a call, and I told my brother to play for me, and handed him mistform. Apparently she stayed that way for most of the game.
Apostate can Apocalypse his way out of a "mist/cocoon-lock" though, so unless you have reliable ongoing destruction on hand, it's only going to give you a temporary reprieve.
