the Chairman Discussion (Speed run focus)

Hello,

With the Rook City Expansion looming over the digital version, I have been trying to plan out team compositions to defeat the various villains as quickly as possible.  I suspect that: Spite, Plague Rat and the Matriarch will basically boil down to damage races. However, the Chairman I am having trouble figuring out. He is the only villain I suspect will not be defeated in under 4 minutes. So I was hoping to get some help with this.

Restrictions:

Sadly, this is on the digital platform and the choices are limited to the Heroes and Environments with the digital version. Which means: Absolute Zero, Bunker/G.I Bunker, Expatriat, Fanatic, Haka, Legacy/Young Legacy, Mr. Fixer, Ra, Tachyon/S.S.Tachyon, Tempest, Unity, the Visionary and Wraith/Rook City Wraith are our options for Heroes. Our Environment is limited to: Insula Primalis, Megapolis, Pike Industrial Complex, Rook City, Ruins of Atlantis, Silver Gulch 1883 and Wagner Mars Base. This assumes that no Varients are released with it.

Numbers:

  • The Chairman starts off with 10 thugs in his trash and has 5 Underbosses in his deck
  • To deal damage to the Chairman, you need 3 underbosses in the trash at the start of his turn.
  • The Operative will play an Underboss at the end of the Villain Turn.

My Ideas:

Team Composition #1:

Heroes: Legacy, Tempest, Ra, Wraith, the Visionary

Environment: Insula Primalis

Reasoning: Insula Primalis doesn't affect the Heroes that much and you have enough damage spare if Dinosaurs become scary. Wraith and Visionary can ensure that Chairman will flip on his third turn.

Team Composition #2:

Heroes: Legacy, Tempest, Ra, Fanatic, Visionary

Environment: Insula Primalis

Reasoning: Insula Primalis doesn't affect the Heroes that much and you have enough damage spare if Dinosaurs become scary. Visionary alone should be able to deal with deck manipulation, freeing up damage

Team Composition #3:

Heroes: Legacy, Super Scientific Tachyon, Ra, Fanatic and Tempest

Environment: Insula Primalis

Reasoning: This is a YOLO strat which shouldn't be consistant. It relies on S.S.T getting two underbosses from the Chairman's deck and having him flip turn one.

Team Composition #4:

Heroes: Rook City Wraith, Legacy, Ra, Fanatic and Tempest

Environment: Ruins of Atlantis

Reasoning: This is a YOLO strat which shouldn't be consistant. Its hoping to get The Pillars of Hercules at Wraith's Power phase to go through the Chairman's deck quickly and relying on Tempest's AoE damage to clean up whatever mess is created.

If anyone else has ideas or criticisms I would love to hear them.

The Visionary seems like a powerful asset, given the value of Brain Burning the thugs in the trash at the begininning of the game.  You need to Brain Burn him before his underbosses start going into the trash, though, so it needs to happen first turn.

Advanced Chairman would be faster.  As on advanced there only needs to be one Underboss in the trash for him to flip for beginning of round two.  As far as the team goes I think your setups are good for doing that.   You might consider playing Silver Gulch to help take out Undrrbosses.

You might consider playing Silver Gulch to help take out Undrrbosses.

I personally believe that its a personal preference between Insula Primalis and Silver Gulch. I prefer Insula Primalis because you can get 3 Obsidian Fields as opposed to 2 wagons which can blow up thanks to AoE. That being said, taking out the underbosses isn't a problem since Legacy will give between +1 and +2 depending on draw and you have Tempest and Ra who can nuke them from orbit with Fanatic backing them up. There is a reason why all my record times for the digital version are below 4 minutes (advanced and normal,) the team has A LOT of damage. There is a damn good reason why: Legacy, Ra and Tempest all have a 100% pick rate in record times.

As far as the team goes I think your setups are good for doing that.

Which set up would you think is best? The super control with both Wraith and Visionary, or go greedy and pick Fanatic and Visionary. The Reason why Fanatic over Wraith is constancy and synergy with Legacy.

I would say greedy with Fanatic and Viz.   If Viz or Wraith had options to discard one of the revealed cards like Parse does, I would choose one over the other.  Even with both on the team at best you still a start of round three flip.
