What an awesome card!

I know you have been speculating about it (Chaosmancer linked to Omnitron new bio); but I still wanted to analyze carefully this beatiful, mysterious card. So if you allow me, I will highlight the writings on his wall (writings in red! Like the Joker in Batman: Arkham Asylum) and then we can play a little bit with its significance...

This is what appears clearly in the wall:

Top, from left to right: NO WAY OUT-- IT SENDS ITS SERVANT-- THE GUARDS KNOW

Left, top to botton: ALL WILL END AS ONE -- NO WAY OUT -- THE FUTURE IS GONE -- NO WAY OUT -- a strange symbol of 4 lines crossing with each other-- NO WAY OUT -- a bunch of marks, a circle, some lines forming a king of triangle.

Right, top to botton: CONCENTRIC WORLDS -- marks of the days passing -- and the figure of the Time crazed prisoner, in the bed, hiding in the shadows and looking at us.

Center of the card, top-right: THE CHILD IS THE CENTER -- and a a concentric line linked to the sentence before by a second line, as its origin; this concentric line does not close but  gets bigger and bigger, with more lines crossing it at different points  -- and at the end, the eyes/infinity symbol, with the sentence CAN'T FEEL MY EYES.

Center of the card, top left and botton of the card: the window, pointed at by an arrow (night, stars, and a pink light crossing the galaxy) an below the arrow, THIS WAY -- more NO WAY OUT -- a hand of blood in the wall -- a drawing with a planet in the center and more concentric lines , with more planets that have been crossed out, all but the one in the center; on the left of this, EARTH WILL FALL -- below the planet and the concentric lines, we can see two things: another arrow pointing at Earth, and a figure (cut in half) of a human in a circle fro which more arrows emerge;  and in the left, a line stright from Earth to the NO NO NO NO NO NO NO.

Also, the text of the card says this: "NO WAY OUT.. THE LINES POINT TO IT! IT'S ALL THE SAME! IT ALL COUNTS! NONE OF IT COUNTS! IT WILL BE HERE SOON!"

 

Ideas?

I have some questions:

Who is the child and why is she  (assuming its a reference to the dreamer) the center? Teh center of what?

Who is this time crazed prisoner?

Who is the servant, and who is its master?

Have you seen "the lines" in other cards?

Are the eyes important?

Here are a couple of theories: 1) The child is Visionary. 2) The child is YL.

Also, for the Earth Will Fall, or It Sends its Servant, it is worth checking out NightMist's Mist of Time.

There is a conection to the SotM equivalent of Galactus who can be seen on Mists of Time

Yes, I read the post, but I still thing there are more details to be discuss. For example: "the guards know"? WTF!!! Sounds like pure paranoia, on the one hand, but on the other... what if FILTER truly knows and controls what is going on? In my mind, there are two more expansions after Vengeance: one about the Cosmic Encounter narrated in this post, and the other, possibly, is a FILTER/Technology expansion.

Sorry, this is what I always see.

WHAT??? There is a Cosmic Encounter expansion! That I so cool!  Ok, one of the villains will be Virus.

I wonder what edition it will be based o: Eon, Mayfair, Games Workshop, Avalon Hill, or Fantasy Flight?

Will it have flares, moons, or a reward deck?

It's the FFG version, jajaja. One of my fav. games ever, by the way.

Something worth noting is that the Time-Crazed Prisoner may be the way he is because he is in The Block. Makes FILTER very scary when you think about it, especially if they know what the Prisoner says they do.

I've brought this up before, but I'll say it again. F.I.L.L.T.E.R. may not be an evil organization, just the SoTM version of S.H.I.E.L.D. from Marvel comics.Yes they have to do unsavory things and yes they sometimes turn on the heroes, but everything that they do is done for what they believe is for the greater good.

Yes, they may know about some massive threat that is out there in the cosmos and are keeping quiet about it, but that may be for the fact that they don't want to have the info spread to the wrong people or create mass panic.

When you're hopping timelines, you're also hopping realities. FILTER may be the good, prison guarding organization like SHIELD in one reality and more like Hydra in another.

Are they more like SHIELD (who though nominally on the side of good, are occasionally questionable) or the MRD? Or both? Also "very scary" doesn't mean "bad guys". Just that the idea of it scares me.

In a society that relies so heavily on technology, someone who can shape it to their will with just a thought is EXTREAMLY dangerous if they mis-use their power. And if that person was an uncontrolable and hyper teenage girl(most teenagers are emotional timebombs) in their eyes, then all the more dangerous.

"For the greater good" doesn't always mean fair.
